Just as ICE and CBP have no legitimate role in "election security" neither does the head of DHS. The mere existence of this press conference should be a scandal, much less this tone-deaf comment.

If it was a staffer, it was someone who is very close to Trump. Someone he trusts enough to let him post in his name. Someone he knows extremely well and spends a lot of time with. Which shows yet again that the people Trump trusts the most are racists because that’s who he is.

These guys are dolts. There was a time when the GOP championed mail in voting, cause that's exactly what is happening here, the mail in vote count. Now they demonize it 'cause it gives more voters an option to have their voices heard & the GOP does not like what they are hearing.

THEY DID IT. EVERY SENATE DEMOCRAT just voted on an amendment to DEFUND ICE (rescind the BBB slush fund that keeps ICE open during a shutdown.) This amendment failed, but it shows broad support! KEEP CALLING and make it a demand to vote for the DHS funding bill!!
👀 Every Senate Democrat + Collins and Murkowski just voted for the Bernie Sanders amendment to repeal the $75 billion in additional ICE funding under Trump’s “big beautiful bill.” The measure failed 49-51.

It’s an affront to the idea of a written constitution that this case will reach oral argument.
The problem as I see it, is that Republicans & his voting base will continue to stand behind Trump, even if they are losing confidence in his performance as POTUS. It's like shooting yourself in the foot...on purpose.

When government agents choose to mask themselves, use 5 year olds as bait, send people to countries where they don’t know the language, separate families and so on, the consequence of that is to be compared (rightly) to the gestapo. When they murder citizens, they prove the point.

Beyond helping establish DHS itself in 2003, Mr. Mitnick was a senate-confirmed Trump choice for General Counsel for DHS in his first term. I've talked with him a few times, and he's not a man for hyperbole. So bear that in mind when you see him calling out DHS's "lawlessness, fascism, and cruelty."
