The area is known for hot springs, and Frieren knows of a nearby village where they can take a bath in the springs.

I can't believe that January is just about over and that February is right around the corner. We're now about a third of a way through the Winter 2026 anime season. For the shows I'm watching this time around, I'm looking forward to seeing how they progress over the rest of the season. Here are the anime blog posts that caught my eye this week:

Bandai Namco Filmworks has announced that “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by the legendary rock band, Guns N’ Roses, will serve as the ending theme song for the latest Gundam series film, MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM HATHAWAY The Sorcery of Nymph Circe. A special promotional trailer featuring the song is scheduled to be released on February 2, 2026. The song’s lyrics—filled with tenderness and longing as they portray the complex emotions brought about by the presence of “her”—resonate deeply with protagonist Hathaway’s own feelings after meeting an alluring young woman named Gigi, making it a fitting and emotionally resonant ending theme for the film.

Publisher Tokyopop has announced that it has begun producing audiobook editions of select titles based on its catalog of light novels, which are published under the brand’s LoveLove imprint. The company has engaged RBmedia for distribution via its Dreamscape Media audio brand, a renowned independent audiobook publisher. Tokyopop audiobook titles are available now from leading retail and library platforms including Audible, Spotify, Kobo, OverDrive, and Hoopla.

AKITASHOTEN has announced the launch of the BAKI manga series’ 35th anniversary, marking more than three decades of one of Japan’s most influential martial arts series. Created by Keisuke Itagaki, BAKI first began serialization in Weekly Shonen Champion in 1991 and has continued to captivate readers around the world with its uncompromising vision of strength, combat, and human will. To commemorate the milestone anniversary, a newly illustrated 35th anniversary visual by Keisuke Itagaki has been unveiled.

KILL BLUE, the hit manga series from Weekly Shonen Jump by Kuroko’s Basketball creator Tadatoshi Fujimaki, continues to build momentum ahead of its highly anticipated anime adaptation with the announcement that Daisuke Sakuma has joined the cast as Shin Kohazame, a pink-haired assassin affiliated with the Chinese organization Yugang. The casting news is accompanied by newly released behind-the-scenes recording photos, a new visual, and a comment from Sakuma, offering fans a first look at his take on the character ahead of the series’ April 2026 premiere.

Video distributor and AnimEigo parent company MediaOCD have partnered with the fellow classic anime company, Discotek Media, to begin offering Discotek home media catalog for direct purchase via the MediaOCD website. The new initiative is called DISCOTEK DEEP DIVES and will begin adding 20-30 classic anime titles from the vast Discotek Media catalog each month, prioritizing ones that are becoming hard to find.

Depending on how some experimenting that I do later this week goes, this may be the final episode of Wash It All Away that I watch on the Nintendo Switch Crunchyroll app. Due to how long the loading time on there has gotten, I fear that as time marches on, I may need to spend more time waiting for the app to load than I may end up feeling comfortable with due to how seemingly out of date the app is apart from the updating library.

Singer-songwriter majiko, who has garnered over 200 million streams across Asia and more than 580,000 YouTube subscribers, has been chosen to perform the opening theme for the TV anime The Food Diary of Miss Maid, which will begin airing in April 2026. A new artist photo has also been released. The new song is titled “Ribbon” and is scheduled for digital release in April 2026 to coincide with the anime’s broadcast.

I love Sundays, because it means I get to watch a new episode of Kaya-chan Isn't Scary! This series has been a fun one to follow so far, and I'm going to state right here and now that I will be continuing to watch Kaya-chan Isn't Scary during the Winter 2026 anime season. It's a nice way for me to chill during my week.
