🖋️ Writing a fantasy horror novel very slowly. Occasional poet.
📙 Bookstagram: devouring.words
I submitted poetry to two journals for the first time in over a year and a half. Slowly, surely, getting back to the good things.

Autumn is definitely my season. 🖤

I am still here, I am still writing. My health hasn't been great & life's been a lot this year. But, I'm hoping to start writing & submitting poetry again. It feels like the right time.

There is sun. There are flowers. Reminding myself that sometimes that has to be enough. 🌞

This is Merlin.

He's my little desk buddy, trying to help me get back into writing the last 5th of my novel. 🤍

I hope all who celebrate have had a lovely Christmas, from me & the perfect Yorkshire puddings I made. ❤️

I just watched 'That Christmas'. Cried. It was fabulous and I would recommend watching (and also would recommend having a lovely hot chocolate with it). 🎄❤️

The house is starting to feel festive. The tree gets pride of place in my reading corner. 🎄

Are there any accounts/ feeds on here that exclusively share (free) poetry/ short fiction submission calls? 😇📚🖋️

Readers, I am looking for rather specific book recommendations.

I'm looking for books where characters let a magic entity into themselves or work through them. But not an evil possession. Examples I've liked are Black Water Sister, and Vespertine.

Ideally published in the last few years. 🖤

The writer pacing on my shoulder, their hair a fidgetted mess, says, "just get the words down! Scribble them, type them, any words will do!"

The writer in the oodie, lounging on my shoulder says, "light the candle, set the ambience, rewrite that scene for the 7th time. End of the book, who's she?"

In order to write a book, you have to write a book.

A little poem, finding it's way here from the bad place (X).

I made more bread. 🍞
November 17, 2024 at 4:02 PM
I stopped using X regularly over a year ago & felt like I lost a lot of the writing, poetry & book community that I'd grown to be a part of on there - like anything I did post was shouting into the void. It's nice to see so many familiar faces on here actually interacting with one another again. 🥰

+ everything about StoryGraph is better & more user friendly!! 🥰
Goodreads is owned by Jeff Bezos. A better alternative is StoryGraph, a Black woman-owned platform. And before y’all start, you can transfer all your Goodreads data to Storygraph so you literally have no excuse.

Sorry but all the fables and fairy tales I read as a kid led me to believe people would be learning WAY more lessons than they actually do
