I teamed up with @lizbayleyphysio.bsky.social  to create this progressive rehab programme for Plantar Heel Pain.

We've called it 'LiTHE' (Liz and Tom's Heel Exercises) and it's aimed at active and sporty patients. It's not a recipe though so it's best to adapt it to suit individual needs.

"A sprained ankle is the biggest sign of mental fatigue"

🩰 New learning e.g. rehearsals can lead to mental fatigue
🩰 Fatigue affects mood, effort perception, and overall performance
🩰 Increased fatigue = increased risk of injury

Knee-to-Wall Test 🦵🏼
MCID
1.6 cm inter-clinician
1.9 cm intra-clinician
(Powden 2015)

What can happen with limited dorsiflexion?
🔹BSI in the LL owing to reduced load absorption
🔹Increased risk of lateral ankle sprains
🔹There might be an increased risk of pathologies such as plantar fasciitis & PTTD

I teamed up with foot & ankle specialist @lizbayleyphysio.bsky.social to created 4 exercise programmes for Plantar Heel Pain. 3 are based on Osborne et al. (2023) where 18 experts devised exercises for PHP. The ‘LiTHE’ programme is our own creation which fits more closely with S&C principles…

The Wet Footprint Test 🦶🏼💦

Consent ✅

The wet footprint test has long been used to assess foot posture. Historically, it was thought to reveal whether you had "normal," "flat," or "high" arches and to predict potential foot-related issues or which footwear might be ‘best’… 🫣

Midfoot Pain 🦶🏼👈🏼

Excluding neural, so remember to consider superficial peroneal nerve for dorsal foot. Deep peroneal is 1-2 webspace (more forefoot). BSI of navicular, base of 2nd MT & Jones # (zone 2 5th MT) are highest risk areas ⚠️
