Sometimes my students make a comment about stuff that happened "in the 1900s."

Then I realize they were all born around 2008.

UPDATE: Following the firing of the director of the student newspaper, Indiana University has now cut the print edition of the newspaper entirely.

Some people feel less God-breathed and more yanked out of the grave of Flannery O'Connor.

*SPOILERS*

I can think of no good reason for #PBS's #Victoria to kill off Nancy Skerret unless they were doing some sort of historically-accurate rendition, and even then no.

I'm going to need a minute.

Found a cool timeline that I thought was worth sharing:

A history of printing, and therefore a history of human progress.

I'm sorry, but what??? Did this article just argue for zapping the brains of those with intellectual #disabilities with electricity to help them learn better?

Didn't we learn that this was a #badidea last century?

Zapping the brain's prefrontal cortex with electricity helps people learn math
Many adults struggle with math, a gap that often begins in school. A new study offers a potential solution: a painless brain stimulation technique that was shown to significantly improve learning, esp...

People keep blaming 🍊 for the GOP's ineffectiveness on #Epstein, but has anyone wondered if...they are on the list?

Such as, is the Heritage Foundation on the list?

Religious fundamentalism has a very bad track record with *cough cough* child abuse.

The fact that people are outing how deeply awful they are, in public, on Jubilee is ridiculous, but I suppose that's where we are now.

Indiana University-Bloomington has just cut ~20% of its degrees and programs.

At the same time, President Pamela Whitten, whom the faculty and student body VOTED OUT because of her incompetence, has just received 1) a contract extension, 2) raise to 900,000, 3) 200,000 bonus.
Indiana public colleges cut almost 20% of degrees
Public Indiana colleges and universities have eliminated 19 percent of their degree programs to meet requirements added to the state’s budget, according to the Commission for Higher Education.

The video really only includes information from the 17th century forward, emphasizing a Eurocentric view of California's history. Because historiography tends to privilege documented evidence, the collective memories from indigenous pre-histories may not have been included.

I just watched TikTok lives of the #LAprotests.

The story was the same across each one. The protests were peaceful, and then law enforcement escalated the situation and either provoked a reaction or began arresting people for simply standing around.

Whatever impostor syndrome you may have once had, dispose of it fucking immediately. If these people run the country, you deserve that promotion, you can run for city council, you can start that business. If this is the baseline, shit, you can do surgery drunk in an alley and you will do less harm.

That's it. Indiana University -Bloomington is struggling to fund (re: can't) its grad students due to the federal cuts. It's official.

I just ..... I mean, yeah, I'm scared. It's already very expensive to live.

Today I'm skimming "Women & Christian Origins", Ed. by Kraemer and D'Angelo (1999).

It provides a series of essays which explore the engagement and literature of women, #gender, and #sex in early Christianity (Greece, Rome). The essays discuss canonization, gnosticism (Gospel of Mary), & ~heresy~.
