"On Tyranny" is a #1 NYT bestseller again. I wish the moment were different. But I’m glad the book is useful. And grateful for all the kind words about putting the 20 lessons to work.

My 1st grader came skipping home from school today saying “They should rename my school Throw-up Land!” Her table partner threw up, the kid next to her at lunch threw up, she saw some random girl on the stairs throw up. Throw-up Land, here we come!

I feel a little less alone after reading this poem by Alison Luterman. Hopefully you will, too.

Penelope, and Odysseys, too, have always been touchstones for me, but Penelope the true center and strength. This poem speaks words beyond words.
My poem "Odysseus" won the Wordview Prize from the The Poetry Archive, was a runner-up for the @rhinopoetry.bsky.social Founders' Prize, and has been published by The Academy of American Poets. It came from a place of survival, and I hope it offers you something on your journey. 🙏🏼

Third intro student to get reporting recognized with a Best of SNO in the last few weeks. I’m lucky to have a crew of curious newbies who are willing (and excited) to do the hard work.

Proud adviser moment: Another new reporter’s first article ever picked for a Best of SNO! Lots of background work, stellar interviewing and 6 rounds of coaching and revision went into this one. Every article is a team effort!

Proud that the first article ever by this new scholastic journalist was selected as a Best of SNO. A lot of peer coaching went into this piece, plus some great pics by a brand new freshman photojournalist!

I hope this news eventually helps students stop having the perception that it’s harder than ever to get into college leading many to self-destructively take every AP class they can cram in their schedule for the GPA boost. Maybe they’ll focus more on the now instead of what’s next.
As enrollment in colleges and universities continues to decline, they’re not only casting wider nets.

For the first time in decades, something else is happening to the college application process: It’s becoming easier to get in.
It’s becoming easier to get into many colleges
Despite common perception, acceptance rates are going up.
