The destruction of US science will be felt worldwide for decades. Take it from @msier.bsky.social, who was the lead program director for the Biological Oceanography program at the US National Science Foundation.
I don’t think people understand how wrecked it is or how hard it will be to rebuild.

WTF? 😳

These people belong in an asylum, and I’m being kind 🤬🙄

And to think not so long ago I even considered/wanted to move to States…
Yesterday, a Republican tried to give me holy water and Trump perfume because I’m “demonic.”

Extremely normal stuff coming from an extremely normal party.

As @glenpeters.bsky.social says, we're way off target for any 1.5°C scenario.

To see how far off, each of the red/green bars represents the decrease in CO₂ emissions during COVID. Even if we achieved that from now until the end of 2030, we would still miss our 1.5°C target by a significant margin.

One of my earliest moments of radicalization was in 2005 when Larry Summers said that women biologically have less aptitude for science than men. Following that, scores of equally unimpressive people wrote pieces trying to explain or justify his remarks, when they should have called for his removal.

"'They’re spending more money than I would even tax them,' [Mamdani] said in an interview with MSNBC last week."

This is the message. Make it clear that these billionaires aren't just worried about losing money. They're worried about losing the ability to exchange their money for power.

Compared to other climate disasters, droughts affect large areas, last longer, and have fewer defenses. As climate change worsens droughts, cities face financial challenges such as lower water sales, higher water import costs, and infrastructure damage, leading to higher taxes and utility bills.
Drought Is Quietly Pushing American Cities Toward A Fiscal Cliff
Drought isn’t the only climate-driven disaster hitting cities. But it may be the most insidious of the natural threats straining local budgets.

Expert here. The weird thing is I don't expect people to trust me (on my specialty) just because. Expertise is all about knowing the broader context of new results, what's clear & what's not, and most experts are happy to help people through this if they're interested in 'doing their own research'.
RFK Jr: We need to stop trusting the experts... Trusting the experts is not a feature of science or democracy, it's a feature of religion and totalitarianism.

Con él se va la iconografía de mi infancia. Era ver un póster con su estilo y saber que me iba a gustar la película.
