Refugee from the Bad Place
I’m gutted. I work in the performing arts and have lots of colleagues who worked there who are just devastated. I’ve always loved going there. My profile picture is me on the terrace! I just hate
all this! Why will no one step up to stop him?

Minnesota based Independent Journalist GEORGIA FORT has been arrested for filming a protest of the church pastor that works as an ICE manager. SPREAD THE WORD! Georgia has been doing outstanding reporting from ground zero!

👏👏👏👏👏
You walk into this bar and show your ICE mugshot, you don't pay a dime.
Scrolling through the photos of Pam Bondi's "Minnesota rioters," it's just hero after hero. Every photo includes a cowardly DHS agent with their back to the camera.

Bondi thinks she's going to win the propaganda war with this shit, but it's never been more clear that they're losing.

Really hard to look at this and all the other examples of bravery and kindness from ordinary people in this moment not think also of the tremendous cowardice exhibited over the past year by some of the richest, most well-protected people in business, media and politics
Let us all have the courage displayed by the residents of Minneapolis.
January 25, 2026 at 2:24 PM
I was just thinking the same thing. An account that just posts funny videos of their cat & dog posted about supporting MN residents tonight. I’m glad to see it. It’s time to get off the sidelines and take a stand, brand relationships and follower counts be damned!

This is what happens when you defund PBS so can’t watch Ken Burns’ documentary about the Revolutionary War

Another civilian gunned down by federal agents in Minneapolis, the day after several Democrats, including moderate media darlings, voted to give ICE another $10 billion.

This Washingtonian piece about the Washington Opera leaving the Kennedy Center after 50 years (!) really digs into the details
Washington National Opera’s Divorce From the Kennedy Center Is About to Get Complicated - Washingtonian
Who gets the $30 million endowment? What's going on with the shared orchestra? “We have a very large legal team," says the opera's artistic director.

This guy went to work today, put a mask on, kidnapped a 5 year old child, and then used him as bait so both he and his father could be sent behind bars

Well considering he and his family made $1.4 billion this year I can see why he thinks the economy is doing so well.

2026 is seeing that the U.S. Army is mobilizing a unit specialized for winter conditions, but not knowing if the intended mission is violent repression of an American city or stealing territory from a U.S. treaty ally.

Cripes a’mighty people, Steven Miller is not staging a militarized ethnic cleansing and sending the border cops to murder people in the street to distract from the Epstein files. He’s doing it because he and Trump (and Vance and Homan and Noem etc) really really want to.

It's probably cliched by this point, but the "Heated Rivarly" phenomenon is a fun escape. Not just the show, but all the crazy fan edits. I've been trying to figure out why so many of us are obsessed with it and I think it just comes down to we love to watch hot people make out and fall in love.

No moral center whatsoever. What bothers me most about him is he doesn’t even believe the line of bullshit he spouts. But he knows who’s paying him so says what he’s been told to say. His only true belief is in his bank account and his “fame”

He has absolutely no understanding of the nonprofit business model. So infuriating

Definitely. And Strathmore has always been an excellent alternative to the KC. A lot of the ensembles have been able to move to other venues. But it’s not possible for them all because of scheduling issues, tech issues (new venue can’t accommodate a theater set or a full orchestra), etc.

It’s the main venue for classical music in DC. Opera, orchestras, chamber groups, soloists, etc. All non-profit just trying to present some art. I’m biased - I have friends and colleagues really suffering there. And no they can’t just “go get another job”. What’s happening is heartbreaking

Every year I watch this movie and every year a different scene hits me hard. This year it was that scene. When Mr Gower realizes what he did and grabs George to hug and hold him and they are both crying…so heartbreaking and just beautifully acted by both.

During his first term, several celebrities boycotted the KC Honors because of him and it pissed him off. He refused to go the other three years because he feared being booed. This is his revenge. Never underestimate that man’s pettiness
December 19, 2025 at 5:06 PM
I have many colleagues and friends who work there (musicians, administrators, etc) that have just been demoralized over the past year. I fear this will finish them off.
December 18, 2025 at 6:51 PM
I just keep thinking about how much that family must have struggled and suffered in private all these years. This tragedy just reminds us that we never know what is really happening in someone’s personal life. It’s now more important than ever to extend more grace and understanding to others.
December 17, 2025 at 3:54 AM
I think its because everyone, no matter the party, see this for what it is - a terrible family tragedy that has nothing to do with politics or with Trump.
