My reaction to the ICE shooting in Minneapolis for @ms.now

It was murder. Something like this was inevitable under this administration. It’s going to keep happening.

Opinion | ICE's violence is no accident
Alan Elrod: The killing of a woman by an immigration enforcement officer in Minneapolis was the raw application of Trumpist authoritarianism.

Unreal how many Democrats—politicians, pundits, posters, etc—advocate complacency on the grounds that they won't get Republicans to remove Trump.

Yes, you draw public attention to Trump malfeasance, make Republicans publicly defend it, and distract the regime, but don't get Trump out of office. OK.

So, who's up for subsidizing Big Oil? When Trump says that the U.S. government may reimburse oil companies, he means *taxpayers*. #Trump #BigOil
Trump says the U.S. may reimburse oil companies for rebuilding Venezuela's infrastructure
Big oil firms will either "get reimbursed by us or through revenue," Trump told NBC News in an exclusive interview.

True. Here in the American Midwest, the average MAGA voter *does* have a might-makes-right outlook, but it's not tied to any IR theory. Household, town, state, nation, world beyond — it's the same approach from nearest to farthest. Hit your child, hit your neighbor, hit someone abroad: same.
All of MAGA basically has a foreign policy understanding that is based on a misreading and misinterpretation of realist IR theory.

"I can do what I want. Because I strong. Ooooga Boooga."

It is really that stupid and destructive.
US views on foreign policy can be summed up by this Matt Walsh tweet

👇🎯 Once again, I will table my deeply unpopular view that the thing everyone needs to spend less time pondering is the end of 🇺🇸 power/hegemony & the thing everyone needs to spend more time pondering is the increasingly authoritarian nature & unilateral abuse of 🇺🇸 power/hegemony.
Echo of @adamposen.bsky.social pieces describing how the US has moved from providing global public goods insurance to attempting to extract resources, for public and private [Trump family and those who secure a connection] purposes.
"As far as Donald Trump is concerned, global security is a protection racket and everyone is going to have to pay more."

Stunning interview with Europe security expert, formerly at the State Dept and NATO, Dr Terra.

Clearest explanation of Trump's (very confused) new global manifesto.

Even worse, different members of the Trump administration have different things in mind. To the extent Rubio, Hegseth, and Trump have put any strategic thought into Venezuela, it's with different goals and different understandings of what matters in the situation. So the whole is even less coherent.
i think people are wildly overestimating the level of strategic thinking behind what just happened in venezuela

Pete Hegseth says U.S. intervention in Venezuela is "exact opposite" of Iraq

Important not just to name media fails but to specify how. Asking Q’s now about operational details is waste of time: the immediate questions are about Trump’s occupation plans. The investigative questions about Trump business allies remain the same.

rubio pretty much believes in a reverse domino theory for latin america and since he is effectively running foreign policy in the region i would expect him to see cuba as his next target
And I don’t want to sound conspiratorial, but if they feel like they can do this in Venezuela without any serious consequences, they’re absolutely going to try it in Cuba too.

1. Yes, Trump launching a new military operation overseas without Congress’ prior declaration of war or authorization of force is almost certainly unlawful.

2. No, there is no real chance the courts will stop it.

Unfortunately our Constitution means little when the judiciary won’t enforce it.

Call your representatives now and demand they impeach him.
