My latest piece on how Israel's society and its racist football fans represent two sides of the same violent colonialism.

How much longer will Israeli football's culture of hate remain unchecked?
The rampant racism expressed by football teams and fans in Israel exposes a glaring culture of impunity. Authorities and sporting bodies like FIFA must stop looking the other way and address this trou...

Wasserman is one of the biggest agencies in football.

It represents players like Fede Valverde, John Stones, Manuel Akanji, Curtis Jones, and coaches like Mikel Arteta, Enzo Maresca, and many more.

But is also a machine that funds apartheid and genocide.

A thread👇🏽🧵

As the world witnesses Israel's systematic destruction of Gaza - including stadiums - and the suffering of Palestinians & Palestinian footballers FIFA, which claims to unite the world through “the beautiful game”, remains silent, writes @leylahamed.bsky.social 🔗 www.newarab.com/opinion/dear...

FIFA says football is for all.
But Palestinians footballers are killed and its stadiums destroyed.
So, which part of this is the beautiful game?
My first piece for @thenewarab.bsky.social: www.newarab.com/opinion/dear...
Dear FIFA: Expel Israel, or stop calling it the ’beautiful game’
Football isn’t innocent while FIFA ignores Israel’s genocide in Gaza and allows it to play, says Leyla Hamed. To save the beautiful game, expel Israel now.

After more than 20 years of service, Arsenal fired former kit man Mark Bonnick. Not for any wrongdoing but simply for standing with Palestine.
There was no misconduct. No hate. Just solidarity.

@Arsenal must apologise, reinstate Mark, and stop silencing support for Palestine.

I would really appreciate if the football community can help here, by donating or sharing.

Mohamed Mresh is a young footballer from Gaza, who played for Al-Shujaiiya club. His family are in a dire situation. Any donation, no matter if small, counts: gofund.me/90c090db

How the world has come to normalise this, justify it and even back it is beyond me.

Abominable.

From all the different posters I’ve taken to protests, this was the one people would always stop by, emotional, and ask for a picture.

Uncle Khaled was a man who touched people and made them cry from all corners of the world purely for his gentle nature and warmth.

Dina Abdeen, player of the Palestinian U20 national team, gets emotional speaking about Gaza and what it means for her to represent her country.

“When we step onto the field, we fight for our people those in Palestine and in Gaza”

Zionists are having a meltdown on X after a fan waving an Israeli flag was banned from the stadium — but the stewards decided to allow a Palestinian flag to be displayed throughout the game.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but… thank you Spurs! 🇵🇸

Maccabi Tel Aviv player Gabi Kanichowsky celebrated a goal by pointing to the Israeli flag and saluting the IOF soldiers who have killed over 50,000 Palestinians in Gaza.

In July, UEFA suspended Turkey defender Merih Demiral for 2 matches for his ‘wolf salute’ during Euro 2024.

Double standards.

Al Nuseirat Club and Palestine Olympic team goalkeeper, Mohammad Al-Ghafari, was killed in an Israeli attack on Gaza today. His 2 brothers were killed too.

At least 356 footballers have been killed in Gaza, yet sporting bodies still allow Israel to take part of sports competitions. Insane.

The Palestinian women’s national team just beat Saudi Arabia 2-1 in their opening match of the WAFF U20 tournament.

There is a story of resistance behind every single one of these players. Honour.

Celtic FC’s Green Brigade fans once again expressed unwavering support for Palestine during last night’s game against Club Brugge at Celtic Park.

Only love for @CelticFC fans. The actual team must be like their fanbase.

Beautiful moments that feel bittersweet this morning. Lebanon has endured more than any other country to save Palestinians and its own sovereignty.

But reading posts from Gaza about the ceasefire is heartbreaking. The isolation of Palestine truly hurts.
People in Lebanon celebrated and thousands of cars filled the roads to return home after a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah took effect.

353 footballers have been killed by Israel in Gaza since October 2023 — according to the Palestinian Football Association.

91 of them were just children. In fact, Israel is killing 1 child every 30 minutes, cutting life short for the next generation of young Palestinian athletes.
November 26, 2024 at 11:48 PM
Hussein Haroon Hassan, a young player of Tadamon Sour Youth football club, has been killed in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon yesterday.

At least 16 Lebanese athletes have been reportedly killed during Israel’s brutal aggression this year.

Cosenza Ultras from Serie B in Italy.
