In addition to the harmful consequences to children charged as adults, developmental science shows that the brains and social-emotional worlds of young people continue to develop well into one’s 20’s. There is great potential for restorative programs and prevention, if given the opportunity
Today the ABA posted this article by Staff Attorney Tiara Greene on the harm of charging children as adults, including increased risk of physical and sexual assault, the collateral consequences of an adult record, and increased chance of recidivism.
