Private shareholders made dividends of £3.6 billion from owning our trains in the last decade. Yet the government is leaving our trains fully privately owned. Sign We Own It's petition to demand they take our trains into public ownership:

Petition: Take our trains into public ownership | We Own It
The government is taking railway operators into public ownership, but the trains themselves will remain in private hands. The government must take our trains into public ownership.

Long term, there's no energy security without net zero. I hope Ed Miliband keeps his job, but I'm beyond second guessing Starmer and his U-turns.

US to impose tariffs of up to 3,521% on solar panels from Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam.

As the US lacks essential materials for domestic production, home products will cost significantly more.

Pity the US consumer.

Yes, they were forced out. Labour deliberately picked a fight with a man who's been a party member for 43 years and a councillor for 39 of them.

This is where Labour's grand talk of devolving power ends. You can have it as long as you don't use it.
They jumped before they were pushed #Broxtowe #Labour
The new ‘Independents’ never supported Starmer & their treatment of their party’s Parly candidate from the time of her selection was appalling.
@JOCampbellMP has shown courage & dignity. She deserves the support of everyone in Broxtowe.

Episode 1 is out today: A meeting at the Carlton Club.

And the start of efforts to uncover the biggest Russian intelligence operation since the Cambridge Spy Ring.

If Labour abolished these ridiculous gongs and got rid of the Lords they wouldn't have to put up with the Daily Mail's humbug. They've got a huge majority. Why don't they just get on with it?
A reminder that Sadiq Khan successfully won three elections in a row by large majorities against Conservative opponents, one of whom, Shaun Bailey, was then given a seat in the House of Lords for life.

Funnily enough I don't remember the Daily Mail describing that as a "reward for failure"

You'd think the healthcare costs alone - £22.6bn a year - would make abolishing the two child benefit cap worthwhile, but surely this is a public health emergency now.
"There are an estimated 2.9m people in England with malnutrition.

Hospital admissions resulting in nutrition-related diagnoses in England increased by more than 39% over the past decade. Malnourished children are being treated for scurvy, bow legs, rickets and heart murmurs."
Who can afford longevity in a cost-of-living crisis?
We all need a healthy diet. So why are politicians normalising food banks and allowing malnutrition and associated illnesses to rise?

Montgomerie is no Lee Anderson. He's annoyingly likeable when he's not talking about politics. I'm sorry to say this, but he won't do Reform any harm at all.
Tim Montgomerie has joined Reform. As a former advisor to Boris Johnson, he should be well placed to help them end their political careers in a blaze of corruption, lies, sleaze and disgrace.
