This is the #Chinese #bramble #Rubus tricolor, completed for The Field Studies Council. It appears on the #Urbanplants of Scotland fold our chart, on sale through FSCs website.

I loved illustrating the textured leaves and shiny berries.

In the last few weeks, I’ve built a pergola with the help of @vanderdecken.bsky.social, weeded and mulched beds and netted my brassica cage. Today I sowed a few seeds to mark the start of the growing season at the #allotment

Exciting time of year! I need to get some more experience grafting (and graft a few more apples for my own allotment) #horticulture #orchard #fruittree
Lovely M9 apple rootstocks from Walcot Organic Nursery. A good, consistent thickness, just right for grafting up a couple of dozen more cordon apple trees for the #allotment collection.

This week’s update from the #allotment . Still weaving the compost bay with Hazel and willow, mulching beds with manure and wood-chipping pathways. Already passed last year’s progress at this time

The destruction of trust in science.

The burning of the books.

The erasure and harm towards queer people.

It’s happening.

America went to countless wars and lost many of its children, making the ‘ultimate sacrifice’ for these freedoms.

And one evil megalomaniac went and threw all of that away.

This week I had my first try at baking sourdough focaccia for a dinner party. Kneadless to say… I bubbled with joy.

Also, I’ve decided to name my starter ‘The Rise of Wisley’.

Can’t wait to try this crunchy and springy malt & seeded sourdough loaf… my 4th loaf since receiving this starter from a friend.

Took a lovely wintry sunset walk around the common. It was so nice to get out for a quiet one to mark my last day off before returning to work tomorrow. And I’m very impressed with the new headphones I was given at Xmas.

I may have the day off work but I don’t fancy a day at the allotment in 0oC, even despite the beautiful sun.
Instead I’m doing some allotment planning, using Excel and Sutton’s Garden Planner.

Progress at the #allotment today continuing the bed prep after ordering 2,000L of manure.
Finally dug over the neglected potato patch, harvesting enough to eat and replant.
Tucked the weeded beds under plastic temporarily. Edging and netting being installed soon.
