social scientist . assistant professor #academic . speech-language pathologist #slp . acceptor of book recommendations (as long as the dog/cat lives)
Asked by our employer to post this though I strongly suspect most do not know or care where I work:
The views/opinions expressed here are not necessarily those of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and they may not be used for advertising or product endorsement purposes.

📱 Do you work in the tech industry? 📱

Do you have knowledge of developing healthcare technologies?

We need 3 people from the tech industry to join our online co-design research as part of my PhD, utilizing smart speakers and automatic speech recognition (ASR) for speech and language therapy.

Posting this call for help in managing useless but harmful reviews of #qualitative #research.
Our qualitative study got desk reject for “sample size” & “validity”. Appealed & reply said we should add 1)coder reliability & 2)numerical data in a table to justify “theme saturation” for paper to go to review. I’ve published qual work for 9 years & don’t know how to deal w/ this quant bias. Help!

Rooting for the #Eagles and also somehow for #TaylorSwift. But honestly, I'm mostly here for the #SuperbOwl posts.
Like many animals that can fly, the #SuperbOwl has gyro-stabilized neck movements to allow it to maintain focus on prey in flight. They're not unique in this, but they are superb!

This little guy is in a rescue for head trauma from a car strike. You can see the pupils don't match (anisocoria).
a gif from gifsboom.net shows an owl in a blue shirt
Alt: I think this might be a whet owl, a tiny own with a very intense expression. An arm in a blue jacket rotates him in multiple dimensions, against a green leafy background, but his intense glare always faces the camera.

Think I'll share this each time a colleague gets damaging feedback from a reviewer who doesn't understand qualitative research.
Oh, what a read! #Qualitative researchers and reviewers, this one is for you.

😂 In all seriousness, no training has better prepared me for life these days than all those years reading dystopian fiction.
So the worst genre is definitely dystopian nonfiction

Hi readers- Trying this again just in case there are any specific tips/ recommendations. Are there better book tracking sites readers like better than Goodreads? Or should I stick with that one? #reading #books #bookrecommendations #bibliophile
I'm interested to learn about different apps/websites readers use to keep track of books. I used Goodreads for the first time this year but was curious about what else is out there. Any tips? #booksky
