I’d like to thank past me for cooking up the idea to do “butcher block dopamine drops” because it ended up making the biggest difference in homeschooling for us. #homeschool

Anyone who tries to tell me that bangs aren’t for me will be directed to this picture of tiny me. Is #throwbackthursday still a thing?

If anything ever happens to me and someone goes through my photos, they’re going to find so many aerial shots of this table with books and papers on it. #homeschool #homeschooling #secularhomeschool

Look, I need a little comfort, so can everyone tell me what their all time favorite movie was in their childhood?

Mine was and still is Sword in the Stone. No one dies, it’s hilarious, and it’s about an interesting topic. What are your favorites? #movies #animatedmovies #childhood #millennial

I took my kids to the library and told them each to choose 2-5 books on a topic they’re interested in learning about. Here’s what they chose. #homeschool #literacy #booksky #reading

I’ve got another reading assignment for you: “A Modest Proposal” by Jonathan Swift, written 1792. I hereby dedicate it to a certain Georgian wart in Congress. #satire #booksky #readinglist

My 9yo started off strong with her topic request in 2025, so I wrote a unit. A revolutionary who fights for educational rights? Excellent choice, kid. And how incredibly relevant. #education

I’m really tired of having bathroom troubles. Yes, I meant that in more than one way.

Husband: You can stop asking now. I will let you know if it’s something you need to know.

9yo: Ugh. I hate not needing to know things that I really WANT to know.

Same, kid. Same.

I started making sourdough because gluten-free bread is too expensive for how unfulfilling it is. Plus, my dietitian thought I could tolerate it since I’m gluten sensitive but don’t have celiac. A month in and I’m miraculously not having reactions. And I’m finally eating delicious, filling bread 😭

I won’t name any names, but every time I see a certain someone, all I can picture is Ed Bighead from Rocko’s Modern Life.

Today we honor Martin Luther King Jr., and all that he stood for - “We need leaders not in love with money but in love with justice. Not in love with publicity but in love with humanity. Leaders who can subject their particular egos to the pressing urgencies of the great cause of freedom.”

My 9yo: Why do people in power have to use big, fancy words like inauguration?

Me: well, that big, fancy word has been the word for this particular event for a long time. 😅

Mind you, this is the same kid who’s described her hair as voluminous. #homeschool

If you’ve never read Animal Farm by George Orwell, let me tell you about Benjamin the Donkey. You see, according to Benjamin, “Donkeys live a long time,” which means he sees these pigs situate themselves as leaders and act like they’re building a better farm. BUT, he knows better. Because…history.

In an attempt to outsource all of the reading curriculum I was making for my kids, I ended up still giving myself a lot of things to read, laminate, cut, and velcro to prep this curriculum. Good job, me. 😅 #homeschool #secularhomeschool

I don’t know why they call it cat calling. They should call it piha calling because these vociferous birds, aptly named the “screaming piha,” sure do know how to claim your attention. And the hearing in at least one of your ears. Our aquarium field trip was illuminating. #fieldtrip #homeschool
