My new post on this:

Has the Left Given Up on Climate Justice?

Yes, it's a provocation. But serious. Both Malm and @triofrancos.bsky.social see a left in denial.

I'm excited to be hosting this urgent, deeply necessary conversation.
Andreas, Wim, and Thea are three of the best thinkers we've got on the climate crisis and the left - and not just the "climate left." Climate catastrophe won't be siloed.

Thanks to @haymarketbooks.org for pulling it together.

Read Bill's latest. And not only for the withering takedown of "center-right pundit Matt Yglesias" whose latest NYT op-ed advocating oil & gas is "a woebegone recycling of decades-old bad-faith arguments from a person who has insisted repeatedly that climate change is not an existential risk."
Closing NCAR because it produces "climate alarmism" is like closing the fire department because it produces "fire alarmism"

Yes, it would be so much easier to declare defeat. But the climate fight is far from over.

My latest for @thenation.com opens with the 2025 "state of the climate report" by a team of top scientists - incl @michaelemann.bsky.social - then gets personal & political.

I'm sure I'm not the first to notice this, but it's kinda ironic that Bill Gates' "memo" telling us to tamp down the climate "alarmism" and refocus on "human welfare" rather than fossil fuel emissions landed on the same day as this latest Lancet study.

I wonder how many support "climate action" at the speed and scale required, rather than false/inadequate solutions.

How many would support nationalizing fossil fuel co's and phasing them out of existence as renewables scale up? How many support trillions in climate finance to the global south?
