Last Sunday, I preached my first sermon ever as a degreed professional. It was on a subject I’ve wanted to preach on for years—Friendship.

I’m so upset about what’s going on with Colbert. This is my favorite show. It’s also indicative of some much more that is to come.

Hi. Does anyone still use this app?

Jeannie, this is amazing. Congrats. I want to read all three.
I submitted 3 poems to a journal several weeks ago. To my amazement, I heard back today that they would like to publish all 3! One of those poems was previously rejected by TWENTY other journals. If you believe in something you've written, don't give up. Someone out there will believe in it too.

I’m not alone being concerned ahead of storm ⛈️ season, y’all. While Reed may not be referring to FEMA, he’s rightly concerned about possible funding cuts to the National Weather Service. Storms are nonpartisan & the work to better warn & protect folks shouldn’t be affected by politics in any way.

Yay!! A federal judge in California sided with a coalition of unions, temporarily barring the Office of Personnel Management from ordering federal agencies to terminate probationary workers, stating that the firings were ‘illegal, should be stopped, and rescinded.’

Yep. I’m untangling myself from Amazon and it is fun.
I almost bought a book on Amazon today, but then I went to eBay and got it slightly used for half the price. Boycotting Amazon is fun AND easy.

Dems Don’t Have to Inspire, They Have to Oppose
A party out of power doesn’t have to be in splendid array. It has to be pugnacious.

If I ruled the world, there would be consequences for accusing people of anything without serious evidence or basis in truth to bring forth the accusation.

I want more conversations and less accusations.

Save accusations for serious harm.

I've done this SO many times. Our library allows patrons 3 purchase requests a month, and I'd say over 80% of the requests I make are approved. Has to be new material (within past year), though. Older stuff they direct you to inter-library loan.
If you want to read a new book coming out but don't want to buy it, a great thing you can do is ask your local library to order it. The more requests they get, the more likely they are to acquire it and then lots of people will get to read it who othewise wouldn't.

Protest Dusty Deevers latest memo to Oklahoma. This is absolutely gross, false and dangerous.

I’ll follow her lead in the capacity that I can.
New on MSNBC: Vice President Harris will fly back to Los Angeles today with an all-female U.S. Air Force crew — the first time an all-female crew has operated a C-33.

Upon landing, Harris will visit a local fire station and then distribute food to community members impacted by the wildfires.

Because I was reminded of how many among us are unhoused this past week, and my local Senator wanting to kick them out and make OKC and Tulsa handle all of it--I am going to quote adrienne maree brown.

This is from "We Will Not Cancel Us: And Other Dreams of Transformative Justice:

When things get hard, it can be good and helpful to get in the particulars. The details.

Yes, the President, OK Governor, and State Superintendent of public instruction are all not people who bring out the best in us.

What’s the difference between a gov controlling an algorithm, silently eliminating reach for things it doesn’t like, vs the same gov using its power, to demand that the platform remove the things it doesn’t like.?

In China they are overt. With TikTok in the US, they control silently

Yeah. We’ve done a lot of life going on. When do we stop and grieve—when it is not be forced in our home without human contact.
I hear what you guys are saying about the Oscars, and how they're a celebration of life, and the show must go on, blah-blah-blah, so-on-and-so-forth. It all makes a degree of sense, but to me it still feels like Nero fiddling while Rome burns. Or in this case, wearing fancy clothes while LA burns.

We now know UnitedHealth—under Brian Thompson—illegally overcharged cancer patients for meds by more than 1000%.

What we don't know is how many cancer patients died or were financially ruined as a result?

What we demand to know is why that act isn't deemed corporate murder & where are the arrests?
