This is one of the best political essays I’ve read. I know it is 3 days “old” and “ancient” history in the online world where so many attention seekers flood us with drivel. But these words are too good and the message too right to let it be buried by them. So I am reposting.
📌"Because Zelenskyy has tasted gun powder and breathed the odious smell of death on the battlefield, he wasn't about to be pushed around by some morbidly obese, 78-yr-old yacht club bully and his toady, who think swinging a sand wedge to free a golf ball from some bunker is dangerous business."

The next time someone tries to claim Musk is a smart businessman send them this little nugget of compelling evidence that the “Musk is smart” proposition is just as much fucking bullshit as the “Trump is smart” crap.

The right question is not what the fired JAGs would not agree to but what Trump/Musk/Hegseth know their replacements will agree to.
Why did Hegseth just fire every top military branch lawyer? What did they refuse to sign off on?

A Pulitzer awaits the reporters and outlet who can tell the public.

Hurling zingers in resignation letters while you run from a constitutional crisis is not courageous.
Snappy resignation letters are not courageous. They are smokescreens for people who want to leave the real fight for someone else. People with real principles and real courage do not run. They stand their ground. And they fight back until the scumbags are on the ground and cannot get back up.

It’s that co-EQUAL branches of government thingy they do not want anyone to teach in school anymore.
When a judge stops the president from doing something illegal, that’s not a “threat to democracy,” that’s a check on the president’s power. That's the whole damn point.

Correct! Aiding and abetting a corrupt criminal fuck who is destroying a nation includes a lot of things that don’t get your hands as dirty as pulling the trigger. Fuck “decent” Tesla people. Fuck MAGAts.They are all complicit.
Someone made a very impassioned post about people condemning Tesla over Elon making an argument that many smart, decent people work there and shouldn’t suffer because of him.

Fuck that.

I have friends who are Feds being smeared and terrorized. I give zero fucks about Elon’s employees.

Good news, everyone! You get to do whatever you want! As long as you say you were trying to save the country, it’s all legal now.

Correct. This is a President of the United States declaring himself a dictator.

And instead of Americans understanding that we’re now under imminent threat of martial law and tyranny, we’ll get a month of think pieces about what the President of the United States meant by his UNAMBIGUOUS statement.
This is fascism.

Dear Congress and Courts,

Do you have any response to this treason that might still save our nation from the rampant criminal bloodletting this piece of shit just sanctioned?

And this is the very serious long term problem with "principled" resignations versus "fire me because I will not commit an unlawful act" resistance. Resignations leave vacancies to be filled by the crooks. But unlawful terminations are not lawful vacancies to be filled immediately--if ever.
“You’ve reached the SDNY U.S. Attorney’s Office. No one is available to take your call right now because they’ve all quit.”

Public officials at all levels have an imperative duty to protect us from constitutional criminals and public corruption. They cannot throw their hands in the air and whine about their lack of power. Aiding and abetting such criminals/corruption is not just immoral. It is unlawful.
This is all a good reminder that, “no help, no votes until the criminal conduct stops” is neither a big ask nor a politically perilous one.

If I am the judge I am hauling ALL of the lawyers into my courtroom tomorrow to confirm Sassoon's statements. And, if confirmed, I am going to unload on ALL of the lawyers, for violating their duties as lawyers--including Sassoon, for failing to disclose the improper activity TO THE COURT.
These lines in Sassoon's letter to the U.S. Attorney General could provide a solid basis for NY Governor Kathy Hochul to remove Mayor Adams from office.
