Handy little thread re: all the inevitable "we've heard a lot of critique, what about the benefits?!"-comments at the @algosoc.org conference. 👇
Students, colleagues, and professionals regularly comment that "it's so easy to just be critical. Why won't you also focus on positive aspects of [phenomenon] and propose solutions?"
These comments melt my brain. Seeing 'being critical' as an easy, cheap way to get some shots in is plain stupid.
