'Hallucinate' has been chosen as the Dutch word of the year... Again building on this anthropomorphic notion that LLMs etc can make up or hallucinate content. This implies they have a capacity to perceive, which they donโt.

En als de genomen keuzes dan effectief nagelopen worden, dan zijn er best wel wat gaten te schieten in de modus operandi. Het zijn pijnlijke fouten die terecht op het vertrouwen van NRC, en bij uitbreiding, de journalistiek afstralen.

Het was de ene na de andere pijnlijke fout voor NRC, iets wat de ombudsman ook niet ontkent... Rommelige journalistiek

Dit is voor mij een tekenend voorbeeld van de stiefmoederlijke relatie die journalistiek heeft met transparantie. Daarnaast toont het dat bepaalde journalistieke keuzes moeilijk na te lopen zijn en soms arbitrair zijn...

De ombudsman noemt die interpretatie "terecht", maar het is toch sterk te betwijfelen dat die journalisten niet nog even doorgevraagd hebben of het wel degelijk om de 'leugenaar'-uitspraak ging. De ombudsman schrijft dan: "Het nieuwsfeit was zeker relevant om te melden." Om welk nieuwsfeit gaat het?
