We are entering a dark age, if a dark age is when people forget how to write. If you are a writer, you are practitioner of what is becoming a lost art. Every time you say, "My story isn't important. It's not good. I don't have to learn how to make it better" the world gets darker. Hold your head up.

I keep getting spam from Gavin Newsom trying to sell me his book (unsubbing hasn't taken yet). This is dead-standard political mass email, and for a ghostwritten book, but I can't help but read it as, "Oh, look, another author desperate to be read, just like me!"

In a dystopian twist, Patreon blocked a post of mine for "violating community guidelines." I checked, and that's a chapter that doesn't even have any adult content in it. Just some plot.

Left the house today. Doc appt. Return to the car was partially blocked by the open door of a large SUV. A little old lady was rummaging in the back seat. For a while.
I ask, "Do you need a hand?"
No response. She's deaf.
I cup hands and shout. She starts.
"Am I in your way?"
I ask, "Do you need a hand?"
