Look at my young novelists go! They get a box colored in for each 10% of their word goal they complete. I use a different color for each club meeting so we can see our progress over time!

I completed all 31 days of #MOCtober

I didn’t have time to commit to a full build, so all of my builds this month were one piece/minifig.

Started novel writing club last week. Today I asked them what their novel would be about. Here's one fourth grader's response.

After being bullied for her smarts AGAIN, Cal goes home to cry in her dad's failed teleporter. But then it actually works. Kinda. She's going to need all her brain power, a little toxic dihydrogen monoxide, and a few new friends if she ever wants to get back home.

I would probably tell my younger self not to burn out and take a 10+ years hiatus. I should have kept querying then, because it was easier in a way. But even if my past self would have listened, I’m a much better writer than I was then.

@youngteenlit.bsky.social how can I get involved? I’m an elementary school librarian, but I’m also a writer, and I wrote a story perfect for this age group. Young teens have much different reading needs than MG and YA can satisfy.

I haven’t been doing much this past quarter, just a bit of querying. I’ve been sort of lazy, sort of stuck.

I hope to start revising something (thinking of taking a serious low fantasy YA to a funny MG), and I’m still going to write a novel in November even though #nanowrimo is dead.
