Sometimes I still tweet about tech. @laurencerowe on Twitter.
@chrisbaraniuk.com Interesting article. Typo in the currency conversion: setup will cost €200m ($2.3m; £176m). The BBC boobs seem somewhat superfluous.
(Not your fault but it’s a shame that the BBC has decided to go all Mail Online outside the UK.)

Gramps here, lecturing leftists who say the Dems can't change that in 56 it was aligned with Southern segregationists (who got the VP noms), but by 64 with MLK, because of successful social movement organizing. Take the party over, leftists. Else you're not actually involved in US politics.

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Utterly shameful. I used to campaign locally for Labour and struggle to imagine how anyone in the party right or left could support such a policy.
In 2020 Keir Starmer and Alf Dubs urged the then Conservative Government to restore their commitment to family reunion for child refugees, saying there was a “moral argument” to protect desperately vulnerable young people.

Five years later Dubs condemns Starmer for doing the complete opposite

Just before the judge arrives at immigration court, attorney Diana Mariscal prepares the dozen migrants for their hearings. She explains in Spanish that there’s a chance ICE will detain them today. But what comes next surprises them all.

Also: if you work for ICE, even if you’re not one of the ones arresting citizens or tackling 15-year-olds or zip-tying kids together and segregating them by race, you’re part of the mechanism making it happen, and you should suffer long-term social and post-regime-change consequences.
Some weirdo on Twitter has been absolutely melting down for like 36 straight hours because I posted:

When this is over, do not forget what ICE did, and what ICE is. And do not make room for them in society. Make sure they know that they are, and will continue to be, reviled and beneath contempt.

I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.

First release of #KVMserver fast per-request isolation for Linux executables using #TinyKVM.
In a React page rendering benchmark with #Deno we see overhead of just 10s of µs, far faster than existing alternatives using v8 isolates (ms) or JS in WebAssembly (10s of ms).

@davidallengreen.bsky.social Agree with your post but think us Brits underestimate how often troops have been deployed within the US.
Last time the Marines were deployed to LA in '92 they fired double the bullets of Bloody Sunday in a single incident.
