Grateful to know my Jesus, elementary teacher, love my family and hiking and quilting and reading and art.
My artificial tree has pre-lit lights. Half of them died. I really don't want to buy a tree.

Thankful for pre-lit garland that not only fills in the lights but also the older greenery. One more year baby!

I got my kids to agree to a theme party!

We're getting costumes and a murder mystery and themed appetizers at Christmas. Yippee!

I started a journal of things I am thankful for many years ago. My kids can also add things, or people who drop by. I think one more year and I'll be at 10,000. Life is good and there is much to be thankful for. I just have to look.

I like dress up days at school usually.

But 12 of the next 17 days have a theme and it is TOO MUCH.

I raced a 6 year old uphill today. Pulled or tore a calf muscle. I don't know what to say. My brain does not believe my body is old. Embarrassing.

Also, the same leg on a similar dare two years ago. Apparently I don't learn. But I was dared! Again!

Hate the chaos that ensues when teachers choose not to return after fall break. The kids panic. The building is wild. Sigh.

I understand but stick out the year please. Or talk to us lifers.

I threw out my dead plants. There are so many empty spaces please remind me I can't afford to fill them in now.

But it looks so sad!

First day of school tomorrow! Looking forward to meeting them without parents and everyone all together. Really hoping we can start strong.

They seemed great at open house, but last year's teachers mostly cried and quit. There's a big change from K to 1, hoping it's good!

I love teaching six year olds.

Workshop week is horrible and makes me cry. Can it be the first day of school already? Except that I'm not ready?

Just spent two hours making butterscotch meringue pie. Went through yolk in the egg whites, a broken plate all over the floor, tears from the child, random neighbor visit, laughter, and an 'oh no it's an hour past bedtime' panic. It better be good when we eat it tomorrow!

Made pancakes for dinner with a box mix. They didn't taste as good as the ones I usually make from scratch. To be expected, right?

Until someone checked the box. It had expired three years ago. We all ate it. Here's hoping we're gonna be okay! 🤞

I typically read 4 or more books at a time. Life is hard today so I was gonna just read. Finished one, okay, pick up another in progress. Oh no, in an hour I finished five books.

Now I have to choose........ I am not prepared!

I love friends who have agreed to never grow old. Went to a cabin for a weekend, ambushed each other with squirt guns outside the bathroom, had whistling contests on a walk, and laughed until we peed. Good times!

That moment when you forgot you're wearing a princess dress and a homemade cardstock tiara and you go to talk to the construction workers. Oops.

There was a child with me a mere 20 minutes ago. I'm sorry, she isn't here now but she does exist. 😂🤷‍♀️

Got back from a week serving people in another city. Praying my team catches the vision and digs in where we are. Mission trips don't really help the place we go. They transform the people who saw outside their own bubble.

Fireworks in a small town is the best. Seeing old friends, bumping into family, seeing kids and teens growing up. Plus watching people you know blowing up things in the air as the boats circle. Good times.

My latest quilt is finished! Looking for beauty where our eyes cannot usually see it. Look up crows in UV light if you never have.

I could never be a plumber.

I was painting a bathroom yesterday and kneeling in front of the toilet just about made me puke. I'm not sick, it's just what you do like that!

Today we played 36 holes of mini golf. Super fun!

Made popsicles from yogurt and from ice cream. Shoulda picked one or the other, now no one wants frozen yogurt when smores ice cream pops with hot fudge are available.

Summer is bliss.

My sewing machine is back from the repair shop. Oh, I've missed her! The list of want to do projects is long. Guess I'll work on the eight table size quilts for my daughter's wedding first.

Got to show my granddaughter boba tea for the first time. She loves it! The little things really are the big things.

No Kings in rural MN was good. About 1.5 percent of my deep red rural town. Took my granddaughter and she didn't know why we were all respectful but others yelled insults as they drove by.

Her first protest. She will remember.

Finally finished! Sent the kids off with a bubble tunnel for summer. So many cried, they don't want to go.

I'll miss them but there's nothing like turning off the alarms and peeing whenever I want. Until September...

Getting ready to finally put the basement back together after mold removal a few years ago. My cat is so angry that his food is upstairs that he is on a hunger strike. Poor baby, it's gonna get worse. Strangers will come when I'm gone and wreak havoc. Have a snack!

Grateful for fiction. Real life is too much some days.

And lilacs. They smell so wonderful and for such a short time.
