1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

Flags don’t mean what they used to just months ago. I’ve written about how I think the same is happening to the poppy.

One thing I noticed today on that topic: so many people are wearing poppies that look nothing like the various ones the Royal British Legion sells…
First the flag. Now the poppy
A sombre display of remembrance is being weaponised and policed by nationalists

REVIEW: The Flowers of Srebrenica
A haunting, poetic act of remembrance that blends ritual, testimony and humanity to confront how easily history repeats

Sad to see Rhoda Dakar has had to cancel her Scottish tour - non mainstream artists have more and more of a battle to sell tickets - our world is becoming banal and tediously fascistic (because that has the simplicity of lazy thinking)

If you believe our society isn't immune from violence and we should all unite and remember what happens when we allow the worst of humanity to prevail come to see this show.
It had audiences in tears throughout the Balkans. But it's not just about the past. It's about the present
Our beautiful and sadly relevant show The Flowers of Srebrenica will open in London in 3 weeks. A call for solidarity to stop history repeating.
"We never think it can happen to us"... until it does.

This is what Farage wants in the UK and most of his mates on @lbc.co.uk would cheer.

History will look at all of them like we look at the SS...
I'm appalled but unfortunately unsurprised to hear that ICE is targeting my neighbors in Rogers Park today. Unidentifiable and unaccountable agents are roaming the streets with their faces covered targeting schools and community centers. It needs to end. Abolish ICE.

Press/MSM, especially BBC, has found it impossible to accept that their one-time mates, the Tories, lost GE last year.
They now have a new "hero," Farage, of course, and have "decreed" that he will be PM, asap.
Labour must be hammered daily, and other progressive parties, eg Greens, swatted away.

Question to Zach Polanski at the leadership announcement:

"Q: How can you take on Nigel Farage when your policy on immigration is so different?"

Everything wrong with British politics and media summed up so succinctly in a single absolutely unhinged question.

And the U.K. is still planning to roll out the red carpet for this deranged troll right?
The account from which Trump shared this QAnon image churns out an endless stream of material designed to drive race hate, antisemitism, fear & hatred of trans people, Muslims, etc. The message refers to "the Storm" of violence that QAnon cultists eagerly expect Trump to unleash.

When the world is torn apart by the nasty forces of division and hate, theatre can be a force for cohesion and empathy.
Our free theatre classes for refugees and migrants are back! Happening right in the middle of Tottenham Hale at the lovely community centre that has hosted us for six years. Because inclusive communities are happy communities

Reform UK, which has a grand total of four MPs, was just given an uninterrupted platform for an hour and a half on the BBC and Sky News channels, in order to talk about its plans for mass deportations

When was the last time the Greens (with four MPs) or the Lib Dems (with 72) were given the same?

The way the Trump administration has tried to make an example of a very ordinary person, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, basically for embarrassing them politically, is unprecedented and terrifying.
Despotism at the Door
The thread that ties John Bolton and Kilmar Abrego Garcia is clear: We have a president who wants to operate outside the law.
