There should be a simple planning term for “don’t judge the value of a future bridge by how many people are currently swimming across the river”. It’s so prevalent. Bike lanes, transit, housing, parking, anything really.
WRT responses to my Star Op-ed begging people to recognize that you can't judge the demand for a multi-billion dollar new transit line by who takes the bus before it opens.

100 dollars for a new bike chain and 70 bucks for bike grips. I really do want to shop local, but prices are so high at local retail shops that I’m forced go online now.

1. After decades of involvement with @VSB39, I’ve tried to tune out. It’s just too disheartening to watch the breakdown in relationships between the board, parents & staff — and the cost to students is enormous. #vanpoli #bced #bcpoli /2

Air pollution has dropped significantly in #Paris in the last 15 years. Mayor @annehidalgo.bsky.social’s leadership has traded car space for green space, safe bike space, kid space.. and traded pollution for people.

Good trade.

My top mobility policy of 2024: Higher parking fees for huge cars

Paris is tripling parking costs for oversized cars. Montreal, Lyon, & Cologne are taking similar steps.

Giant cars worsen pollution and safety, and they use more curb space. Owners should pay extra.

The evidence is clear: slower speeds save lives...and they're popular, too! It's time for the BC government to act.

She said the province relies on reports from admins and promised her office would provide info on request

I requested it. Still no response #bcpoli
In the lead up to that police board vote, one member said the letter to the minister would be “a slap in the face” to SD61. Over the spring and summer, SD61 asked VicPD for data on gang activity in schools. VicPD said they wouldn’t provide the disaggregated data SD61 wanted. x.com/step_harriso...
