I like things such as video games and music. I will post about those things. It will be fun.

I write about games here:

Hello! I'm Chris. My post splits here are probably 65/30/5 for videogames/music/other.

I play an even split of retro and modern games, lately with a lean towards JRPGs, platformers, and Metroidvanias. Nintendo and PS, mostly.

My musical tastes mostly fit neatly under the indie rock genre.
2026 is the year I will play:

Tenchu
Mega Man Legends
Tomb Raider II
Outer Wilds DLC

And replay:

MGS
Symphony of the Night
Chrono Trigger

I've got the Seahawks 28-20 this evening.

It's both a prediction and a hope.

It's hard to trust either of these QBs.

This is not quite GTA Simpsons. There's very little point to getting out of your car except getting your next mission. Lots of racing, tailing, collecting, etc... and pretty much all of it happens in a vehicle.

Not sure I like it more than Road Rage, but it does add nice variety.
Time to see what all the fuss is about.

The Simpsons Hit & Run. #PS2 Is it...

GTA: Simpsons?
Road Rage plus some on-foot stuff?
Something else entirely???

Absolum enteres rarified air in my personal gaming canon as only the second roguelite I've seen through to the credits (Hades is the other).

It's a great side scrolling beat-em-up with roguelite twists. The combat is fantastic.

Absolum Review – Talon Trot Games
A 2D beat-em-up with roguelike aspects, Absolum pulls wonderfully from these genres to create a great experience.

Back to Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake for me after getting distracted by Absolum for a good while.

This continues to be a super comfy JRPG. Walkin' around talkin' to folks, finding stuff in barrels, clearing dungeons, not having to sweat many fights.

Cairn is a unique experience, one filled with a wide range of emotions and sensations. At times frustration and hopelessness, but above all struggle, resilience, and beauty.

Cairn will stay with me for a long time.

Cairn Review: One of the Most Unique Games I’ve Ever Played
Cairn brought me closer to the experience of mountaineering than any other medium ever has. A unique, tense climb filled with struggle, resilience, and beauty.

Threads of Fate on #PS1 is a fun time that falls just short of SquareSoft's best of the era. Still, it is a fun 3D action adventure title with plenty of unique twists.

Roll credits on Threads of Fate #PS1

Very good game. Not peak PS1 SquareSoft but still a very fun action adventure game. Interesting enough that I'll hang onto it and play as Rue at some point.

Still love how Mint is a true jerk throughout and never changes.

Went to download the Pragmata demo and found it super interesting that the full price is $60.

Is this just a new IP price? Or "this is an 8 hour game" price? Both?

Very strange to see. Excited for the demo.

Going to try to avoid the urge to buy Resident Evil 9 at full price later this month by playing:

Silent Hill f
Dead Space 2
RE 5

RE 7 and 8 were both so great, combining what they did there with a return to Raccoon City has massive potential.

Roll credits on Absolum.

A fun 2D beat-em-up roguelite. Very much a mash up of Hades and, say, Shredder's Revenge. Super satisfying combat with a lot of RNG customization. The game does a good job of letting each run earn you some permanent progression.

8 hours in and Threads of Fate has not turned Mint from a jerk into a lovable jerk. I appreciate that.

My 9yo put me on the spot to rank my 10 favorite games ever. Attached is what I came up with (his are on the right).

I don't hate it, but I'm certain I forgot something obvious and the rankings would change tomorrow if I did it again.

Roguelite definitely isn't my favorite genre of games, but Absolum has been one of the few which broke through with me. The progression is pretty consistent, even a bad run will gain you something for the next time.

Definitely a bit repetitive, but the combat is fun enough that I don't mind.

The Hornets are a really fun team and for the first time since I signed up for League Pass a few years back I'm sad they are blacked out for me as the local team.

You are either old enough to know every single word of "Teenage Dirtbag" by heart or you aren't.

I enjoy picking up old favorites, but sometimes it's fun to hit up the game store on vacation and pick up a few games I've never played.

Never played any Wipeout, have played the original Bushido Blade as well as the PS1 Spyros. I hear good things about all of these.
