the thing about gender is I don't have a favorite color, and this seems to anger a lot of people. I've had people tell me they know my favorite color even though I don't know it. (That's not an allegory; that exact thing has happened.) But I don't have a favorite, nor is my favorite "no colors"

Now that I'm back from the US and not in fear about being detained at customs for my political beliefs, I helped create a charity album for Palestine!

'Composers for Palestine' is a collection of beautiful indie video game music. Enjoy, donate and share!

8. “At Firefly Moon Thrift Shop” by @laeastra.com

I’m a big fan of how lae can take huge worlds and distill them into gentle, intimate moments—this one takes so much interstellar world-building and concentrates it into a small shop with a parka for sale.

Beautiful writing by @bpladek.bsky.social

“She diminished, enfolded by green, until he was left alone in the dream’s fairy no-place: its ideal of a meadow, which did not exist but lived only in the mind as a language for loving real meadows, a door into their endless summer, a way through.”

Reposting bc I've heard this story's spoken to some folks. <3

My fav story I've written is up @strangehorizons.bsky.social--about our love for books & history & our need to see ourselves in them.

A trans guy meets a beloved author in a dream, who he suspects was trans too. Then stuff gets weird.
The Spindle of Necessity by B. Pladek

"[...] she appeared, a pale woman of about twenty, with the long androgynous face mid-century novelists always called coltish. Probably she could have even passed, in different dress. Clothes meant a lot more in the ’40s."
