The best thing of learning 2 crafts in the same time frame is that when I get frustrated with one I can switch to the other one.

I like to use my worsted wool scraps to make hats for charity. These two groups were both sent to Wool-Aid. #showmeyourknits #knitting #knitsky Details in the alt.

No particular pattern was used for these, I've made so many charity hats that I can do it on auto-pilot. The striping technique is called helix stripes, and there are many various tutorials to be found via google &/or youtube.

The set up to make the lace samples is taking far more time than expected 🙄 in the book they do it with the sewing machine, which I don't have, and by hand is a nightmare 😆

Ok I messed up the top part which is not symmetrical and will try to fix it with the border. I am improvising 😌

I spent three days searching through scanned antique patterns on antiquepatternlibrary.org and found a filet crochet yoke pattern shape I liked. I also found the bats and knew I could subbed out the butterfly for the bat. Did some more research about the thread needed and recommended hook size.
