Great talk by @dooleydooley.bsky.social @museumfreederry.bsky.social, highlighting the deep links between U.S. & Irish civil rights movements. Irish activists borrowed tactics like marches and sit-ins, and figures like Angela Davis and Bernadette McAliskey saw the struggles as deeply interconnected.

After Eight: The Story of Satpal Ram, produced by Black and Brown — a short, hard-hitting and deeply emotional film on a 24-year miscarriage of justice. Eight years in solitary, brutalised by racist guards for refusing guilt. A powerful story of defiance, resilience and collective resistance.

On display, posters of two Derry born hunger strikers, Patsy O’Hara and Michael Devine, both died in 1981. Additionally, on display (left) is a rubber bullet made into a cannon by a prisoner. On the right, a model made by Martin McGuinness, he made this in 1974 when he was imprisoned in Portlaoise.

The Bloody Sunday Murder Trial Shows the Reality of British Justice
Today’s court verdict on Soldier F is the latest act of self-protection from a state that won’t hold its agents to account even if they kill, writes John Finucane.

As we await a verdict in the trial of Soldier F, another reminder that in 2010 the Bloody Sunday inquiry found

- the killings were unjustified
- none of the 14 dead (7 of whom were children) had guns
- no warnings were given
- no soldiers were under threat
- the troops were the first to open fire
