How nice it must be to think academics are only interested in pushing left wing activism for the sake of “indoctrination.” As an Indigenous and disabled person, I study what I study so that me and folks like me survive and have a voice in a society that would rather see us silent or not exist.

Since I am still on a 2+ year waiting list to see a doctor for it, does anyone have recommendations for accounts to follow about #hypermobilitydisorder?

The following is a recruitment letter for an IRB approved research project I'm doing on disabilities and masculinity, along with an alt-text summary. Please share with anyone you know who might be interested in participating.

Disabled people have been right about almost everything that’s happened over the last five years.

People don’t listen to us because they don’t think of us as real people. We’re invisible (at best) and completely disposable (at worse).

We are the canaries - and we are trying to warn you. Listen.

PSA for newbies:

Please include ALT text on your images.

This is an inclusive space for blind and visually impaired people.

Don't arrive late to the party and ignore a bunch of people.

Also, please share this skeet, rather than liking it, to ensure the message gets delivered.

Thanks!

The head of Oklahoma's public schools seems to be testing the waters for a broad-scale attack on the separation of church and state. He's requiring students to watch him pray for our next president, in violation of Department of Education rules. 1/

A few years ago, while teaching at a small country school, I was listening to a podcast during my plan and came across this motto. It knocked me off my feet. I was teaching students who didn’t believe that college was a path. “Don’t take choices away from future you.”

I know many of us, including myself, are shocked, saddened, angered, and worried about the direction of our country. But, James Baldwin’s wisdom is something I’ve come to cling to when I feel like nothing I do matters.

Well….

Like most heavyweight fights, Paul/Tyson was an overhyped snooze fest. Best fight of the night hands down was Barrios/Ramos, who both fought with a lot of heart and respect for the craft. Also thought Taylor/Serrano was a good fight though many found the decision controversial.

The more I hear different silver bullet explanations as to how/why Trump got elected, the more I think we need to embrace what intersectional scholars and activists have LONG preached:

Capitalism has ALWAYS been intertwined with racism, patriarchy, and other forms of oppression.
