Hard to know what to make of Liverpool right now. I always thought the talent alone would pull us out of this hole, but they don't seem to be capable of it under Slot. But on the other hand, I'm not sure changing the manager is the answer. Tricky one.

catching up on the Liverpool lowlights and it's really one of those games that where when you're down, you're down bad. when we are rolling you can generally throw out any mix of League Cup nonsense and somehow get the result.

hilarious timing with the Klopp interview - but how on earth did Bartlett, of all people, land his first big interview since leaving.

i always get a kick out of guys retiring mid season. just waking up one morning and realising the juice isn't worth the squeeze anymore.

Cape Verde - and Shamrock Rovers' Pico Lopes - have qualified for the World Cup. Crazy achievement.

Loved this from Kevin on the endless misery and delusional hope of being an Ireland fan.

this victory lap from Trump and Bibi is crass, to say the least.

international week Mondays are and underrated low point, as the routine of listening to weekend review pods is gone.

we have a medley of issues in Ireland but one I never see covered is just how difficult it is to make friends as you get older. since moving to Cork I haven't made a single new friend. but i'm lucky to have friends back home I can turn to. i'd say there's a lot of very lonely people out there.

random question - who are your favourite (active) sportswriters?

fool me once etc., but at two separate times now i've had a subscription to the Irish Times when they've been offering it for pittance, and each time have eventually had trouble accessing or managing the sub. you need to email someone to cancel it. utterly awful service.

Was there much of a turn out to the right wing march in Cork? Was out earlier and didn't see a soul.
