There's actually bad designs to show that would illustrate the point, too! All you need to point to is the main alien guy who looks like they found him working in Tesco to go 'this is why this game was too sauceless to make it', but instead it's right to the most racist choice they can make.

Metroid Prime 4 really doesn't have enough dialogue. Would benefit from more characters, maybe some one-liners to really spice up exploration. Perhaps a wise-cracking sidekick on comms giving advice.

Typing this up and I realised I forgot the new Katamari and Look Outside and Sudokovania and The Roottrees Are Dead and a bunch of other real good games. Gaming is so good! Also some stinkers like blue prince and miside but you can't win 'em all.

Stuff I played this year that was really really good: Pathologic (cant believe it took me this long to get around to it, I adore this game), Reverse Collapse (best tactical rpg I've ever played), Metal Slug (played a bunch of them and MS1 is my fav), Yu-No (foundational work for VNs). Going Down.wad

Thats just for games that came out this year, honourable mentions to Deltarune ch3/4 or Hades 2 (good overall, but a shite ending), Abiotic Factor, Logic Bombs and Ender Magnolia.

Silksong was the most overhyped running joke of a game and somehow far better than ever expected. Promise Mascot Agency was a delight. Of The Devil ch1 was a great start. 100 Line, which I still need to finish, is a staggeringly ambitious VN. Silent Hill f was an actually good silent hill in 2025.

When a major story beat in Ghost of Yotei was labeled "The Cost of Revenge," I felt relief because I am glad a Playstation game is finally covering this topic. I hope we can get some answers re: revenge, and whether it is a bad thing, and maybe even causes a cycle of violence
