Counterpoint: this place needs more baseball writers sharing free agency info. Not more politicians.
Politicians should probably get on Bluesky to get better in touch with the American electorate.

Literally every news outlet reported on the No Kings protests.
Once again, the main day of Tea Party protests had about 300,000 nationwide, but saw endless coverage.

The No Kings protests had about 7,000,000 nationwide, and many media outlets reacted with a yawn.

No Kings was nearly 25x as big as the Tea Party but the Tea Party got 25x the attention.
Ask yourself this: How would the New York Times have covered the protests if it had been seven million MAGA supporters flooding the streets? We don’t even have to guess: We know how they and other mainstream outlets covered the Tea Party protests during Obama’s first term.

I like Mamdani but I think people on here care way too much about who's gonna be the mayor of New York City.

The tattoo thing is dumb and I had to leave this website to find out that its a dumb story cuz this place is definitely an echo chamber. But I do enjoy the baseball chatter.

I think it's fair to say that a great deal of good things have happened because of social media AND that the world would still be a better place if it never existed.
Has anything great happened in your life because of social media?

For as much as folks around here shit on legacy media, not a single legitimate news organization reported the Groyper connection and large swaths of this website ran with the rumor anyway.

Social media is a disease.
It's several days since many viral posts on this platform claimed without evidence that Tyler Robinson, the suspect in the killing of Charlie Kirk, was a supporter of Nick Fuentes and the Groypers.

There's still not a single piece of evidence that shows Robinson was a Groyper.

Y'all remember when Walz called them weird?
1. In her first social media post, Erika Kirk, Charlie Kirk’s wife, posts video and photos from the last 48 hours and she adds…

Don't think you're gonna kick the echo chamber accusations with 90% of this website rolling with unreported "shooter was a groyper" speculation.

What happened at Kaufman Stadium on Sept. 11, 2001?
We will never forget.

My view of college football is basically "what if everyone was insanely passionate about AA level minor league baseball?"

It's funny how fans of all contending teams sound absolutely miserable.

I like everything about Springsteen... his genre, his vibes, him as a dude. Everything except his actual music.
what is the band that is most like the stuff you like that you nevertheless hate. or dislike. for me it’s Fleet Foxes. seems obvious i should like them but i DONT

This homer did not travel 594 feet. But if sharing to no end that it traveled 594 feet makes Trevor Bauer upset, then yes, it traveled 594 feet.
Trevor Bauer served up a 594 foot home run today and has the highest ERA in the NPB. That home run is the longest in recorded history, here it is

The silly thing about this BlueSky debate is that this is mostly an echo chamber (politically, anyway) in the sense that if I was a conservative or even a centrist, I couldn't imagine spending time here. That said, there is also nothing wrong about not wanting to see posts that make you angry.

The argument gets even funnier when you move it down to guys like Drysdale, who's working with 2025 position player level stuff here. www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYct...

Half the posts on this site are tantrums over poorly worded NYT headlines that normies don't read or bad takes from their columnists that get buried in their opinion section, so if we are evaluating "is BlueSky annoying", well...
my hottest take is that even for all its flaws and biases and blind spots, a lot of people are weird about the new york times. if you wake up and actually read the morning coverage it looks quite different than dissecting one story on social media.

These look fine. But my initial thought is, would the Bulls ever wear White Sox design jerseys? No, cuz most people don't care about the White Sox. So cross branding with an infinitely more popular franchise is kinda... embarrassing.

Not popular on this platform, I'm sure, but I 100% agree with this thread.
Bluesky needs more ideological diversity, a thread:

1/8: I think the question of why commentators like Matt Yglesias, Lakshya Jain, Noah Smith, Nate Silver and Richard Hanania don’t post more, or at all on Bluesky is important.

This would be a better platform if they did.
I like posting on BlueSky because I think I’m the most right-wing person who uses this service.

I got bad news if you think your beloved 2005 White Sox wouldn't have gleefully visited the Trump White House.

Minecraft movie does not deserve to win any Oscars but it was good fun at the theater and my 11 year old Minecraft freak loved it. 10 thumbs up.
