If you’re an American should watch the Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown ep on Iran. A deeply humanizing look at a country full of people just like you and me. I watched it after Anthony died and it moved in ways that are hard to relay. I also immediately ran out to try kabob koobideh and tahdig.

May every single human being on this planet be safe.

May every single person be protected from harm.

May we bring into being a time in which we are all free from those who do evil— together, speedily and in our days.

This Juneteenth, we honor the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in the U.S were finally informed of their freedom. As we recognize the ongoing presence of suffering caused by systemic injustice, may our practice be a source of healing. And may we listen deeply to voices unheard.

my hottest educational take is that schools should actively, non-punitively teach students how to admit when they don't know something, aren't sure or have made a mistake, with various teaching frameworks adapted to support this ideal, because people who can't admit fault are breaking the world

Public libraries are about access to resources/services, not just access to books. Books are one type of resource. Another type of resource is space with air conditioning and wi-fi which you aren't charged any money to use.

my local grocery store’s yogurt shelf was bare yesterday and I’d missed this whole thing

someone took the ordering system down so although there was no shortage of goods, stores couldn’t order to restock

10-day backlog distributors need to work through so check exp dates for freshest stuff

MASSIVE good news for trans people in the United States.

A federal judge has just granted class action status to transgender people looking to update their passports.

This means that very shorty, the window will open to update your passports with the correct gender marker.
