The racial profiling has begun in central CA. Picking up young people driving while brown, then not accepting their drivers licenses as ID. Not believing them when they say they belong to the local Native American rancheria.

Seems like we should be organizing ways to support and protect immigrants, pregnant women, trans kids and anyone else losing their civil rights. Although marches haven’t accomplished what we wanted, they could be a great way to network.

Under the GOP's SAVE Act, Tribal IDs would NO LONGER be accepted as valid identification to register to vote.

This is a direct attack on the voting rights of Native American communities.

I’ve been weight bearing for 2.5 weeks, slowly walking farther each day. Today I annoyed a red-tailed hawk by walking under its acorn-filled telephone pole.

Still rehabbing from knee surgery, so I’m not out on the trails. So here’s the view from my kitchen.

At the last race I did, a person giving out pickle juice started talking w/ me about the rattlesnakes we had come across on the trail. I showed him my ring I designed after having a rattlesnake pop up between my feet. He showed me the tattoo he got where the head of the snake is where he got bit.

Living in a rural area means the grocery store and gas station are pretty random. I can buy an air soft gun, fried chicken, and the local church-run newspaper at the gas station. Or I can get popcorn on the cob at the grocery store..

Came across this while I was running along a dry canal. It was one of my last runs before knee surgery, so I was running in pain while despondent about the election. This seemed just dystopian enough for the moment.

Just enjoying my neighborhood view today

Season 2 of Silo is here! In ep. 1, I love the set design where she is walking through the crumbly skeletal remains. I would enjoy behind-the-scenes podcast (like Truest Blood) where they interview the people who designed the set, along with the actors and directors. And of course, @hughhowey.com!

I’m old enough to remember a neighbor girl with severe disabilities getting pushed around in a pram. She was way too big for it (maybe 6 or 8 years old). No real medical intervention, no school. Just curled up in a baby carriage beside us while we played.

Thought I would share why teachers hate to miss school (it’s kind of funny in a dumb junior high sort of way.
So I had knee surgery that was more complicated than expected. I had made lesson plans for 2 days, but needed more.

As a trail runner who can’t go on the trails due to knee surgery, I miss them already. First ode to trail post: I always must stop and film tarantulas.

I look forward to contributing to underground movements to help people in MAGA crosshairs. This app seems perfect for such activity.

Last long run before surgery. Next long run: maybe in May if all goes perfectly!

Started the day depressed (not in the rage stage yet) with a brutal headache, ended it feeling happy thanks to surgery pain meds. The meds behind me are for our very old dog who is always a good boy, so he and I will be limping around together.

Mainstream media spent a month of handwringing about Biden, then ignoring Harris while breathlessly covering Trump. Now they cheerfully write about Trumps “winning message” and how now he gets to decide how to end the war in Ukraine (as if we don’t all know it will be the Genocide of Ukraine).
