kribu13 in that other place. for now, a backup, but I like the look & feel of this place so here’s hoping it takes off. Estonian. Ukraine supporter, middle-aged, occasionally fandom stuff.

Inertia is a powerful thing and I’m still mostly on Twitter but .. figuring that it might be time to try and establish some sort of presence here as well in addition to just parking a name.

So, here I am. Estonian, Ukraine supporter, Doctor Who fan, Pokemon Go player, middle-aged and tired.

can someone please convince me that I do NOT need a new ereader. (I actually really don’t. I just get a regular itch to just have something .. new. must resist. again. and again. and again.)

also why is it that the less I earn, the more I want to spend money on things I do not need.

A Russian drone strike hit a kindergarten in Kharkiv following a night of heavy attacks. One person was killed, seven injured. All children were evacuated and are now in shelters, many showing acute stress reactions, Zelensky said. These bandits and terrorists can only be stopped by force.

OTD in 1951 *2nd* wave of Operation Osen's deportations began. Over 16000 Lithuanians were forcibly sent to Siberia as USSR continued to liberate them from fascism & also their freedom 6 years after WW2 ended.

Horrifying images coming out of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, this morning after a massive Russian drone and missile attack overnight.

As Syrians, we stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian nation, which is under terrorist attack.

Targeting residential neighborhoods is a war crime.

“Washington noticed 'Estonianization' of European foreign policy. Members of Trump administration consider Baltic states dangerously aggressive toward Putin”

Look

I simply want russia to stop constantly invading its neighbors, and answer to justice for its crimes

Is that really too much to ask
"Washington noticed 'Estonianization' of European foreign policy. Members of the Trump administration consider Baltic states dangerously aggressive in their stance toward Putin.

At a recent high-level Pentagon meeting, Baltic officials were accused of 'ideologizing' their opposition to Russia"

After the August 2008 war, Russia bulldozed dozens of villages in occupied regions of South Ossetia (Tskhinvali, Georgia) to ensure there could be no return

190,000 were displaced, ancestral villages erased totally

Looked just like this

If we stopped Russia then, it would be a different world
So google maps updated some satellite footage, here’s one single Ukrainian village. One out of thousands

Today's violation of Estonia's airspace by Russian military aircraft is an extremely dangerous provocation.

This marks the third such violation of EU airspace in days and further escalates tensions in the region.

The EU stands in full solidarity with Estonia (1/2)

Decided to go ahead and cancel Disney+.

I had an annual subscription that only last renewed in July, so I still have until next July to watch stuff if I find anything else of interest (not watching would be giving them my money for nothing!) but at least it won’t auto-renew any more.

So I was bored and found an old (2011) laptop today, which still turned on (battery’s completely gone but works when plugged in) and decided to change it from the Windows 7 it had to Linux - picked Mint as it sounded newbie-friendly enough. Should be OK for simple web browsing etc.

Spent most of yesterday googling stuff and making every backup imaginable (including system image and recovery drive), and after a few extremely nerve-wracking hours today, I now have a computer that is fully Windows 11 ready AND has a brand new internal 4 TB storage HDD installed & ready to use.

Win for today: while tidying some stuff, randomly found a replacement printer toner cartridge I’d bought in 2021 (receipt was inside the box) and completely forgotten about. Replaced the cartridge today in the printer (bought in 2004!) and it still all works beautifully.

1/ Ryazan has become the latest Russian region to introduce bounties for citizens who find recruits to join the Russian army. The initiative has raised concerns that slaves and vulnerable people will be 'sold' to the army for profit, as has already happened in some cases. ⬇️
