Remember how just a few years ago during the worst of the pandemic when we saw how the govt can actually do big things and saw that our collective health & well-being are intertwined, and then corporations got mad that they lost a modicum of power and helped fund a backlash of amnesia and fascism?

Alright, team Bluesky: US foodbanks are about to have staggering demand when SNAP ends Nov 1st. We need to help them prepare.
I'll match donations: DM or reply with a receipt showing your own donation to a food bank of your choice, and I'll donate to match, up to a total of $500. 💪🥗🍲🥚🥧🥪🥣🥛

Political prisoners are everywhere in this country
Louisiana has refused to reconsider the convictions of 1,000+ mostly Black men sentenced by split juries, despite the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in 2020 that such convictions are unconstitutional and based on an inherently racist law.

What One Man’s 45-Year-Old Case Tells Us About the “Jim Crow Juries” Haunting Louisiana
Today, a split verdict would mean a mistrial. But in 1980s Louisiana, when nonunanimous juries were still legal, 19-year-old Lloyd Gray, a Black man, was sentenced to prison for life — even though the...

For those folks, accepting Black people's view of the world would require them to:
1) Accept responsibility for the legacy of white supremacist harm.
2) Be accountable as part of the culture that continues to perpetuate that harm.
3) Stop doing self-serving things that harm Black people.

Let me be less vague. For a certain type of person:
1) It's safer to argue with Black people than to actually confront white supremacy.
2) It's incredibly threatening to consider that the world might be how Black people say it is rather than what you've always been taught.

Even if you don't subscribe to the idea that Black people probably know more than you do about what's happening, why is this how you choose to spend your time? What happens inside your body when you "win" these arguments? Think about it.
White people trying to win arguments with Black people on race already lost the plot. Defer to the authorities!

Andrew needs our help, he lost his job a few months ago and is two months behind on rent. He recently got a new job but bills and rent depleted his small savings during unemployment. If we each give $1 they’ll reach their goal. We’ve helped 161 people so far, let’s keeps going.

White people have a kind of intra-white respectability politics about the level of racism that's considered permissible in polite company and I think a lot of polite racists are mad the gutter racists are tarnishing their good name.
I don't care for any kinda racist but I love myself, so. 🤷🏽♀️

A Black Mom who lost her job a few months ago is having a hard time making rent these past few months. She does on-demand delivery to get by but had to spend on car repairs, and this month she won’t make it. If we each give $1 she’ll reach her goal. We’ve helped 158 people so far, let’s keep going.
