late asf for #WipWednesday but here's some fucked up namjin (cannibalism, psychosis, hallucinations of close one's passed, and mushrooms)
The mushrooms had already melted and entered their blood streams. It flows through their neural pathways like a burbling tide - unable to be stopped and it'd be futile at this point anyways. Fire raises his hands with them as they aimlessly dance around him in some fucked up shrine. Namjoon looks down at his hands, now covered in blood. He jerks his head up when he hears a wolf howl in the ever-present distance. The forest was a creature in itself - wilderness untamed in its purest, unconcentrated form. Blood is spilled like water and death is a friend who never leaves. Death sits calmly tangled among the roots of a tree while a rabbit carcass rots from the teeth marks in her neck. Something hides in the trees. He can't hear it. But he can just - feel it. Namjoon feels it like a bug under his skin and scuttling up his spine. He hears a giggle and turns around. A hand with strangely unblemished skin brushes the rough bark of the tree it's near. The image builds as Namjoon moves closer. Round eyes that ring somewhat familiar in his mind, plush lips curling into a calm smile and flowers adorning his head. Wearing a white unstructured dress that swallowed his entire silhouette beside bare feet. Was it a spirit of these grounds? Was it here to tell them to stop where they are and try to scrape together whatever sanity they have left or to promote them on this gore soaked path, the destruction of everything they once knew? Namjoon didn't know if this was it. How he'd die. Soul stolen by beautiful hands. He just wonders how the others will fare. He thinks Jeongguk could handle things, abiet with harsher methods. They're deep in the quiet dark now. An owl hoots and the moon casts her unbiased light on them. The spirit offers Namjoon a hand, palm up. He slips it on top, the difference between them apparent. Namjoon's rougher and calloused skin, knuckles torn and haphazardly healed over stand out almost comically. It's cold. It's almost like Namjoon is holding a long dead body - the warmth of life and the beat of a heart nowhere to be found. He will never be warm again. "Namjoon." The voice is as soft as morning frost. That cold hand cups Namjoon's cheek so gently he could cry. "They need to eat. You need to eat." "We have traps. For - for hunting -" "You know what I mean. Little hares and tired fauna will only hold you so long. You wouldn't want them to starve, hm?" Namjoon doesn't speak. He looks down at the mud squishing and shifting under his boots. Then at the blood still there on his hands. Gore sits under his nails. He carries death like a lover now. Where he goes gore follows. "I wouldn't allow you guys to go hungry. You know this better than anyone, Namjoon." "I ... I know. God, I know." He kisses the knuckles closest to his mouth and feels it water. He is hungry. So hungry. A hum. "You need food. You know where to get it." Buried close to the rabbit burrow near the cabin. The meat sits under mud and dirt. Namjoon should know, he hasn't cleaned under his fingernails since. He wanted to keep the pain close because it was all he had left of Seokjin.

"Are you … are you okay?" Seokjin doesn't say anything. He doesn't have the strength to even conjure up any thoughts. He simply shakes his head. Namjoon hums next to him, and then there's the sound of him rubbing sweaty hands on his thighs. "You don't have to pretend you're gonna comfort me, Joonie. It's fine." He lifts his head and meets the younger boy's gaze. Namjoon doesn't look reassured at all. The white lollipop stick in his mouth shifts from left to right. "You're tired." "I slept like 3 hours, barely. Ha, yeah." "No I mean – a different kinda tired. Not sleepy tired. The kind that you can't sleep off." Cold strikes Seokjin's chest. This was new. He's met Namjoon thousands of times. Had waved off his concerns so much he's pretty sure he could do it high. But Namjoon is never so sure. Something cracks inside of him, and he cries. Shaking with it, fingernails digging into his legs. Namjoon curses and rubs Seokjin's shoulder. But he shoves it off. "I can't do this anymore, I can't. This is too much. I just – the same things keep happening over and fucking over! It's the same thing, each time. I wanna rest. I don't wanna be trapped here anymore." Namjoon is silent. Even if he was talking, the pounding in Seokjin's head was drowning it out. He really can't do this anymore. Not again. He doesn't think he could take seeing Jeongguk's body crash onto his window again, those large eyes slowly losing the little light they had in the first place. Seeing Yoongi happily set himself ablaze because he doesn't think he matters. Taehyung's terrified and shellshocked face after his father dies by his own hands. Seokjin can't stand to have Jimin sob and scream in his backseat about his mother. Or Hoseok pretending everything's peachy fucking keen. "I'm not doing this anymore. I tried. So hard. I can't do this any longer or I might –" "Might what?" Namjoon's voice is shakier now, Seokjin can't bring himself to care. "Hyung, might what?" "You're not gonna remember me anyway." "You — no. You're not – People love you. You're so important and – " "It's fine, Joonie. Don't worry about it anymore. It'll be fine in the morning."
