Hi I’m Kochina Rude, a drag queen based in the Bay Area. 3yrs ago I started giving away Narcan at my shows after reversing an overdose at a party. Since then, my friends and I have distributed more than 4k doses, and SF saw a 20% decrease of fatal ODs this year to date. Change always starts here ❤️

Police enforcement drives overdoses because people are pushed to use alone which increases the risk of a fatal overdose, and confiscating drugs makes people buy again (maybe not from a trusted source) thereby increasing their chances of being sold toxic drugs which increases their risk of OD.
Somehow we arrive at a conclusion that despite police budgets increasing everywhere, overdoses also increasing everywhere was the fault of decrim pilots in two cities and could only be solved by more cops.
A better conclusion: police enforcement drives overdoses.

Police in Rhode Island are saying someone died from fentanyl-laced cannabis based on preliminary drug testing done by the police, and I just want people to remember law enforcement is not qualified to perform drug testing or determine cause of death. It helps nobody to create unfounded drug panics.

I love an alt-nite theme don’t get me wrong…but it might be helpful for some club promoters to remember that lots of punk and metal shows already exist in most cities & the “target audience” would probably just go to an actual punk or metal show in real life vs. pay the same $ cover for a parody 🙃
