It is believed that all vertebrates descend from the larva of a filter feeder that stopped metamorphosing, staying in its mobile juvenile stage.
This is the basis for the incurable disease Retromorphosis Maligna, where ancient genes reactivate and transform the body into its "adult" sessile form.
A patient lies on a hospital bed at night, lit only by a small overhead light. Her body has started to transform: her head and neck is now shaped like a tube, with an enormous gaping mouth. Her eye is small and vestigial. Her arms have atrophied, looking like small stumps. She appears to be suffering. A patient lies on an operating table, intubated. Its shape is not recognisably human anymore, reduced to a mass of flesh with two large holes: ingress and egress. Its limbs have fused into a stem, with fingers radiating outwards like tree roots.

On June 2, 1991, flight 283 from LA to Newark lost all contact with ATC. The aircraft never landed, and no remains were found.
Ever since, rumors of a "ghost plane" have spread among aviation enthusiasts, who claim to have seen flight 283 attempting to land at airports across the world.
A large 747 aircraft flies low close to a runway on a foggy day. The plane is completely dilapidated, with a missing cockpit area, several large holes in the fuselage and destroyed motors. It is surrounded by a coat of black smoke.

Guys what's the most cursed sketch-final comparison you have, I'll start:
a terrible sketch showing two images: 1. some kind of glowing stick shittily crests over what might be the horizon 2. two blobs with sticks on their heads swim around the worst outline of a ship. above, a helpful diagram of the tennis ball they carry on their heads two finished artworks: 1. A night scene. What looks to be the glow from a lighthouse crests over the horizon on the ocean. 2. A ship has crashed on a rocky shore at night. One of its sailors seems to be flailing in the water nearby. Three enormous fish, each with a bioluminescent light on their heads, encircle the drowning person.
