Let's talk about Supplemental Nutrition Assistant Program, aka SNAP 🍎🥦🥕

With 1 in 10 Tennesseans receiving SNAP benefits, we all have family, friends, and neighbors who risk hunger this month while the Trump admin refuses funding for this essential program.

Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001.

As we honor those who lost loved ones, we also pay tribute to the first responders who rushed to help others 24 years ago.

The Knox County Democratic Party condemns and denounces political violence in all forms. Democracy prevails when we settle our differences civilly and at the ballot box.

Charlie Kirk and his family are in our thoughts and prayers.

ARE WE GREAT YET?
Health insurance companies are raising insurance premiums by up to 18%, the largest increase in 15 years.

Companies have cited Trump's tariffs as a reason for this increase.

They’re not alone, we’re feeling the squeeze here in Knox Co. too.

Tim Burchett refuses to stand up for Tennesseans as Trump’s disastrous policies take food off our tables and empty our wallets.

In 2026, it’s time to elect a real leader who won’t sell out for some signed merch.
Tennessee residents express frustration with the rising cost of living:

"Sometimes things cost 4 times what they was a year ago...It's awful. Everything just keeps going up... They're not concerned with people like us. They said these tariffs are gonna bring prices down. They're not."

The grit and determination of America’s workers and unions built the American Dream and a strong middle class.

Your jobs, your pay, your future are what we join arms with workers and unions to fight for.

Happy Labor Day!
This Labor Day, thank a union. Our nation’s workers have better wages, stronger benefits, and safer working conditions because of them.

Duck blinds. iPads and Apple gear. Thermal optics.

Bought with YOUR tax dollars under a corrupt Republican Sheriff.

🗳 In 2026, we must hold this corruption accountable by electing candidates who will protect your tax dollars. 🗳

It was an honor to be able to speak at the TNDP Veterans Caucus Town Hall this morning. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Our veterans deserve policies that honor their service and sacrifice. Proud to stand alongside organizations and elected officials who are standing up for veterans each day, and working for their futures.

We were honored to support the TNDP Veterans Caucus at their Town Hall today! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

We’re proud to stand with leaders and advocates fighting for better care, housing, and opportunities for all veterans.

Thank you to the organizations, elected officials, and more who showed their support today.

DYK there's an election next month?
Tues., Aug. 26, is the Knoxville City Council primary election.

Local elections shape our neighborhoods from sidewalks, parks and street maintenance to school-zone safety and housing.

Make your voice heard!

Are you better off than you were 6 months ago? Tonight, Burchett will tell working people not to look behind the curtain while our schools are losing positions, our children are losing food programs, and people in his district will lose healthcare coverage no matter what spin he puts on it.
Can someone tell Burchett calls with pre-screened Q’s where you don’t actually have to face constituents don’t count as “town halls”, and only serve to highlight their cowardice? 🐔

(@marshablackburn loves to do these also— no real town halls since 2017)

Democrats are backing small biz, job training & infrastructure to grow real, stable jobs. The GOP? Still clinging to trickle-down promises that never pay off.

Time to build a middle class that includes us.

Knoxville just lost $42 million in infrastructure grants for East Knoxville. Funding that would have gone to sidewalks, safe streets, and neighborhood improvements.

And yes, Tim Burchett, Marsha Blackburn, and Bill Hagerty all voted for it.

Elections matter.

Way to show up this weekend, Knoxville!

Local news estimates that 7,500+ came out to exercise their 1st amendment rights.

Speaking out is powerful.

More Knox County federal funding cut news from the people with KnoxFill.

Hate to see these cuts to local programs that do so much for the community.

It's no secret that Congressman Burchett is making a habit of betraying his district for praise from Trump, but today's move to codify Trump's executive orders has betrayed all East Tennesseans who are hurting under the billionaire-focused MAGA 2.0 agenda.

East Tennessee deserves better.

Facing funding cuts, Knox Pride needs community support to continue feeding and providing essential items to ~100 people each day.

“Schedule and organize your own event,” is a ridiculous statement when their candidates and elected officials won’t event show up to nonpartisan voter forums.

Tonight, the Knox County Republican Party is holding a closed-door meeting with our Republican legislators — and you weren’t invited.

Elected officials are meant to represent everyone in their districts, not just a select few behind closed doors.
INBOX: “Enjoy the THINO (Town Hall In Name Only)”

KNOX COUNTY Republicans are refusing to let non-Republicans attend a “town hall” with state legislators, telling one voter “you do not qualify as a Republican”

You can’t call it a town hall if the public and press aren’t allowed in. Knox County’s Republican legislators are hiding from voters — and dodging accountability.

Meanwhile, @votegloriaj.bsky.social and Rep. Sam McKenzie continue to step up. Details on the town hall TBA in the coming weeks.

Despite being under investigation for wasting YOUR tax dollars, GOP Trustee Justin Biggs is still throwing an expensive fundraiser at the new downtown Smokies' stadium today.

He should resign, cancel the event, and end his re-election campaign.
