I want to tell you why the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia should matter to you.

The one power you cannot give the executive is the ability to imprison or expel anyone regardless of their legal rights. That is our key check against autocracy. And we are watching it disappear.

The Senate wants to see the NY HEAT Act enacted to reduce energy costs and encourage electrification. The HEAT Act has support not just among climate advocates, but across a broad political spectrum in the Legislature.

Clean water funding is a priority for both houses: the Assembly and Senate proposed $600M and $700M, respectively – and they agree that $100M of the total should go toward replacing dangerous lead pipes in our water system. That would be a public health win for people across the state.

The Senate and Assembly are out with their responses to @GovKathyHochul’s executive budget, and there’s a lot for climate advocates and environmentalists to like. We’re going through the 370 pages (!) of documents to review all the details.
