Librarian, music historian, accidental Victorianist, and generally the human version of a statistical anomaly.
the other day I found a cardigan that had been lost for over two years, because it turns out I'd used it to wrap a painting in a moving box and then never had cause to open that box at our last place

so that was definitely Pedro Pascal on the porch in Bad Bunny's halftime show, right?

finally starting to upload some Claribel song PDFs to IMSLP. and alright, I know IMSLP predominantly handles more mainstream Olde Musicke. nonetheless, I am staring at this genre/style list with the sort of roiling, dissociative loathing I usually reserve for Temu ads

turns out lemon soju + amaretto makes for a decent amaretto sour in a pinch

reasons I'm still wide awake at 2:25 AM, #67523: I've stumbled on the website for the Asiatic Society of Mumbai, whose digital collections have great coverage of 19th-century Indian newspapers, not to mention seemingly cleaner scans and better OCR for some titles than the BNA has

update: I have met this dog. her name is Ariel and she's the most beautiful zest-filled golden retriever I've seen in a hot minute
a new genre of Apartment Noise I'm getting used to is "medium-large dog walking around on the wood floors of the upstairs apartment." this thought brought to you by what is clearly the dog's wake-up time, 6 AM.

turns out the tip I saw on Reddit for sawing through otherwise inaccessible Command strips with dental floss is 100% legit. feeling that MacGyver energy

saw the Joffrey Ballet's version of The Nutcracker (the Chicago-ified 1893 Columbian Exposition one) and I Cannot Believe that
(1) their version of the Russian dancer was, in fact, Buffalo Bill cowboying it up on stage and doing lasso tricks as well as mad jumps
(2) it WORKED. REALLY WELL.

listen, yes, "Santa Buddy" is in its original form a cowardly heterosexual cop-out, but consider:
"Santa Buddy" as sung in the character of a tropey Capone-era mobster

was walking to the neighborhood taco place with @killwelly.bsky.social, and someone had spilled an entire-ass puzzle on the sidewalk in front of a Little Free Library. I:

remarked on that.

(thought furiously for 5 secs.)

added:
"well, I s'pose it *is* the season for piece on earth"

listening to an episode of a music business podcast, and it's definitely interesting in some ways! but also, I have now heard the phrase "decay curve" applied to music catalogs and I would like to remove my own ears about it

just poured the remainder of a bottle of rosé into a half-finished red Gatorade, in case you were wondering how my December (and tbh this whole year) has been going

I sang the first line of the Golden Girls theme to a friend as a joke as we were parting ways and then proceeded to sing the entire rest of it under my breath. why do I know the entire Golden Girls theme, I've watched like .76 episodes of that show
December 4, 2025 at 4:29 AM
............and now there's a Father Brown episode that clearly takes inspiration from Frances Glessner Lee, she of the murder dollhouses chronicled in The Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death. gonna need another drink for this one

cannot believe that there was a whole Toxic Yuri episode in the meddling detective priest show, my god, what a ride
November 13, 2025 at 2:33 AM
started watching Father Brown because I'd gotten so into Sister Boniface Mysteries, and my god I'm glad there's a ton of it. please no one rid me of this meddlesome priest, he's a delight

k, I'm super new to One Piece and I have zero idea what ppl have been theorizing for all these years, BUT: my theory is that the One Piece is a nugget of some radioactive material like uranium. some source of energy that'd revolutionize industry and ocean travel and turn power dynamics upside down.

Judge Dee's Mystery is deeply enjoyable to watch, partly bc of how gorgeous the costumes and sets and scenery are, and partly because I love the dynamic of "hi I'm Di Renjie and these are my two dumbass best friends who I met when they tried to rob me, we solve crimes"
October 21, 2025 at 3:55 AM
because I guess this account is almost solely about my Media Opinions now (which, not much of a change from Twitter tbh), I've just finished season 1 of Sister Boniface Mysteries and I'm finding it absolutely delightful for a couple very specific reasons
October 18, 2025 at 2:38 AM
so I've finished season 1 of live action One Piece thanks to @megparsec.bsky.social and my god that was one of the most entertaining things I've watched... maybe ever?

look I'm not gonna be so vindictive as to say there's a special place in hell for someone who decides to put laundry in all 3 working apartment-wide washing machines at the same time. but I *do* think that person should, in so doing, invoke a curse that shrinks one random item in their laundry load

there was an insect near our open kitchen window for about thirty minutes. and I know it was about that long because this damned thing made a sound EXACTLY like a gas stove turning on, and that's how long I spent being repeatedly petrified that I hadn't turned the stove off

I don't even remember where I got it but I've kept a bamboo picnic spoon in the lil backpack I use as a Butch Purse™️ for a good couple years now -- and the other day I got some tabouli to go but the cafe didn't have plastic utensils so I GOT TO USE THE BACKPACK SPOON. I'm so happy about this tbh
