Good to learn to recognise Nudge Theory. It was first picked up by Cameron in 2010. The guys behind Nudge were really proud, but later, they saw how Tories abused it, leading to tens of thousands of deaths. The guys backed away and won't be associated with it now. #WelfareCuts #PIP #Starmer

In 1970, the UK finance sector assets were worth 50% of GDP

By 2022 assets hit £27 trn; UK GDP £2.5 trn.

The sector delivered speculation, crashes, frauds, dirty money, tax dodges.

Didn't deliver sustained economic growth.

Yet govts want bigger finance sector

Such a strategy was tried in 1970s and came to grief in the mid-1970s secondary banking crash.

Profiteering by energy companies increases poverty, business costs and deindustrialisation of the UK.

He only testified, involuntarily, after being granted immunity.

Think about that. Trump’s FBI nominee pled the Fifth in response to a DOJ subpoena.
