This will be my 12th year at Glastonbury (and I'm afraid I have no idea how I've been so lucky at getting tickets).

Glastonbury during the festival weekend is my favourite place on earth.

Here are my top tips for first time Glasto goers (and those who haven't been in a while).

A 🧵.

Nobody's ever really captured, to my satisfaction, the way that the internet -- though it promises infinitude, all of human experience & history & art & thought in one place -- has instead produced a kind of narrowing & flattening of experience, made the world seem *less* magic & full of wonder.

A reminder to reporters: Because Trump tariff numbers are made-up nonsense, using the phrase “reciprocal tariffs” is lying to your audience. The phrase itself is propaganda. They are not reciprocal.

🤔 how much oil and gas is there *really* left in the North Sea? 🤔

According to this morning's headlines, courtesy of oil and gas lobby group @oeuk.bsky.social, plenty!

As @nstauthority.bsky.social's latest production projections seem to suggest otherwise, I was skeptical.

Let's investigate... 🧵

Old gas incumbent really trying to cling onto a world with gas (of any sort).

This trial is of a single hydrogen-powered van, while other utilities already have fleets of thousands of electric vans.

Can anyone point me to a summary of the reduced investment in renewables / clean technologies announced by fossil fuel majors?

e.g. BP has cut investment by $5bn / year; what have the others done?

Wind and solar generators stop production at rising rates as grids and storage lag behind.

The absence of proper price signals for locating new load and generation doesn’t help either.

UK #energysky folks... Can anyone explain how the CCC's Seventh Carbon Budget has arrived at an LCOE for offshore wind of £51 / MWh when the last offshore wind CfD auction cleared at around £80 / MWh?

40% of new cars registered in December were electric to some degree. 31% were pure electric and 9% were plug-in hybrids (PHEVs).

In recent years there's always been a spike in December. Historically this has been driven by Tesla scrambling to meet targets before year end...

My bike was stolen from outside Didcot Parkway station yesterday.

Looking for recommendations for an inexpensive but good value bike (that is hopefully less likely to be targeted), and a solid lock.

A fascinating report from @rockymtninst.bsky.social on the clean tech 'race' between China, Europe and the US.

China's dominance in clean tech manufacturing is always mind blowing (except in electrolysers and heat pumps, for now at least).

Appreciate this may not be a universally popular opinion but the less you treat BlueSky as a crusade or cause, and the more you position it as simply a superior user experience with a better governance approach, the more sustainable the growth will be.
