The French word for “gender” is “genre”,

so technically, “my favorite gender is psychological horror” is a sentence that makes sense in French.

This one is like the polar opposite of Ghost's Pope Emeritus character
- Fully alive
- Bright
- In perfect health
- Not human
- Not ominous

Original Fallout came out around 1995, and used 1960s imagery & tech.

Therefore, a post-apocalypse game which comes out today should have everything done in Windows 98 aesthetics!

Post-ap game that comes out in 2036 should be 100% Frutiger Aero. That'd be an interesting thing to see!

Doom / LotR meta narrative:

Knee-deep in the dead = Fellowship of the Ring
Techbases are obviously Shire, Mirkwood, and Moria

The shores of Hell = Two Towers
Deimos bases are plains of Rohan, Minas Tirith, and Helm's Deep

Inferno = Return of the King
Mordor is obviously hell.

Not "new" news, but an interesting article.

Also, now I want to go tickle rats. :) As for the human-animal bonds, rats were love at first sight for me.

Three skipped meals is what usually separates civilization from chaos.

Since Americans are obese, I'll give them 5 meals. That's a day and a half. After that, anarchy.

2008 financial crisis showed us that we don't need to own homes.

Likewise, the 2026 financial crisis will show us that we don't need to own cars.

Can't wait to see what 2039 crisis will reveal...
In a country where public transport is scant outside major cities, car loans are one of the last things that Americans will let themselves default on.

So it is particularly shocking that the share of car loan borrowers missing payments has soared to levels last seen during the financial crisis.

How to avoid this kind of mindset as a business owner?

When your income and in turn entire livelihood directly depends on the successful outcome, it's impossible to avoid ego involvement.
Found this on the AO3 subreddit, and I'm about to let it change my whole life (or at least work really hard to internalize it wrt my writing).
