I never saw the movie but I bet it’s not as good as the book. The book rips! A real nasty piece of work

have you read The Ruins? IDK why exactly but I read it years ago and have never really stopped thinking about it

How many different ways can a single paragraph tell you it was written by AI
January 3, 2026 at 12:10 AM
ya - that’s a primary way you learn jazz, by transcribing solos/learning them by ear
January 2, 2026 at 7:54 PM
yeah - I was legit curious if I could find a way to do a video edit that matched my audio editing and the answer was simply: no! I’m sure some of it is my own limitations as a video editor, but I really do have a handful of moves that only work without a corresponding video track to worry about
January 2, 2026 at 7:50 PM
there’s def something about like, passive/second-order content or whatever you’d call it - there was this interesting video recently from a jazz saxophonist about how he sees people on YT reacting to good solos like “where’s the transcription for this?” And he was like bro YOU do the transcription

This piece features some good quotes from thoughtful people - I love how both Miranda Sawyer and Jad Abumrad approach the question
January 2, 2026 at 7:16 PM
disappointing if unsurprising, lol
January 2, 2026 at 6:46 PM
yeah, the machine transcription seems solid in both apps. I’m curious if it actually can learn over time, like it says (aka it learns that Maddy isn’t “Maddie”.) Have you found that it actually learns names, etc.?
January 2, 2026 at 6:44 PM
that makes sense - for triple click we’re planning to switch to Riverside for recording, bc I appreciate the studio controls and it spits out an unaltered wav. I can imagine Descript being good if you have a team - I wish their editor were better ofc! Also wow the AI stuff all sucks huh
January 2, 2026 at 6:41 PM
I thought a lot about this while making trial social clips of Triple Click - there’s def something that changes when you can see someone’s face while they’re talking. It’s not bad or good exactly, just different, but I def get why video pods are a thing. A different sort of connection w/ the speaker

I’m new to both apps and find them equally fascinating, useful, and appalling. What do you use them for the most?

Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.
