Absorbing info and spitting out thoughts. Primarily media, entertainment, tech, film, TV and video game industry discussion. Sometimes vague, often sarcastic. Veteran Nintendo and Warner Bros. stalwart.
Yeah… nah. Get out of here with this crap. All game devs are not using AI and most are definitely not avoiding paying voice actors by using AI so big money-making publishers can squeak out a little more profit. Talk about throwing away a lot of the good will your game and dev had in one fell swoop.

Great news with Ghosts basically matching the PS4 predecessor which had more favorable conditions. Seems like a huge success for the series, developer and Sony, to the chagrin of awesome woman protagonist haters online. 😉
Ghost of Tsushima launched in July 2020 (if you'll recall, stuff was happening at the time that significantly boosted gaming), and the PS4 installed base at the time was significantly higher than the PS5 is today.

Like, anyone with "concern" about this title should be looked at with a side eye.

With one week in market, the US sales performance of Ghost of Yotei was basically flat to that of Ghost of Tsushima.

It did great.

My better half just started playing this yesterday and it’s already great. Well deserved!
Ghost of Yotei was the #1 best selling game in Japan this week!

Did this person not research David Simon for the assignment? 😅

No film is “ruined“ because it gets turned into a franchise. Folks need to set aside their hatred for franchises (which tend to fund their favorite new non-franchise films) and focus on the why they love the original movie(s) that spawned said franchises.

Great video game industry sales and health insights from Mat, as usual. Very curious to see how the holiday season goes with higher prices and other factors.
August 2025 U.S. Video Game Market Highlights Thread from Circana - NBA 2K26, Mobile, and Nintendo Switch 2 drove 11% spending growth in August when compared to a year ago, helping lift total projected spending across video game hardware, content and accessories to $4.7B.

Double digit declines for Xbox and switch 1 aren’t surprising but PS5 is certainly concerning. Was there something this time last year that would make that decline less severe?
Hardware - Monthly hardware spending increased by 32% when compared to a year ago, to $312M. Nintendo Switch 2 sales were able to offset double-digit percentage declines across each of PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Switch.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Does this guy have any knowledge of anything? He’s either the most uninformed, oblivious person in the world or one of the worst liars. Gee, I wonder which? 🤔

I spent the last week combing through reports and speaking with analysts about where EA's studios and most well-known franchises will likely fit under its new owners - and how that massive debt will potentially influence the way EA handles them

My guess is a Super Mario Galaxy movie promo but potentially featuring the little secret Pikmin. Maybe there is a Pikmin galaxy in the movie? 🤔
Nintendo just released another 'Close to You' video, and they show the Pikmin on the new video!

Currently playing through Kirby and the Forgotten Land on Switch 2 after beating Donkey Kong (haven't completed all of the post-game content yet though). The game is somehow even better now. With this and Silksong coming in days, I'm set for September. Hoping Metroid Prime 4 is an Oct/Nov title!

Nice. Sony sneaking one of their (multi-platform) titles in amongst all the Microsoft titles for the top selling PlayStation games.

That's what it wants us to think. It's actually testing this species long-gestating project - cutting-edge spider cloning technology - in anticipation of plans to build an army large enough to take over the entire planet.
“Deep in the Peruvian Amazon, a spider is at work building an elaborate, fake decoy of itself. In its web, it busily goes to working crafting its doppelgänger out of leaves, debris and dead prey insects…”

Seeing Fantastic Four tonight after having to cancel our Thursday screening plans. Excited to see a calm and collected sci-fi story superhero film. If this hits with me, it will be three in a row for great and likely unique feeling CB films this year. 👍

Bibi is a monster and needs to go. He and his cronies know what they have been doing and are just evil. This is why real reporting from both large-media journalists and smaller independents is so important in revealing what is happening to many who ignored or didn't notice before.

It's like the early days of the Internet! You know, before corporations, marketeers, extreme political view-touting grifters and gatekeepers became the prominent voices online. Broad reaching social media platforms are partially to blame.
“Wikipedia is this economic anomaly. In many ways, it’s sort of magical that people will just volunteer without explicit economic incentives to create artifacts that are meant to share knowledge with everyone in the world”
