I saw someone complaining that Nintendo hadn't done anything with "The Astral Chain Franchise", and when I pointed out it was... just the one game, they said "yeah but they were clearly intending it to be a franchise" anyway I'm radicalized against the concept of franchises now.

Weird how zoomers and gen alphas keep finding modern media to be hollow corporate slop and are looking older iterations despite the jank. Shout outs to Star Trek.

I love it when games that don't stand of the test of time experience a resurgence of people rediscovering the game and giving it its flowers and find new and novel ways of playing it, and have extensive and still growing modding communities that are creating entire new worlds in it.

Whenever I see stuff like this in the game design axis, I'm like... okay but who are you? What are your bonafides? Is it just... you play a lot of games? [Video] Game design is such a young discipline and so ever changing I sort of believe *no one* qualifies as an expert. At least, not an authority.

Both have their strengths and weaknesses, but neither actually remake Metroid 2 particularly well. AM2R is Super Metroid 5.0, Samus Returns is Dread 0.5. Metroid 2 is a horror game you play under your covers with some terrible Gameboy light accessory barely lighting the screen.

Just going to bike down to CompUSA and cry because they won't have Ultima 7 patch disks in for another 3 months, continuing to try and play it in vain until Voodoo Memory Manager causes my computer to burst into flames.

Shout out to the disaster that is the Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring GBA game which I unwisely purchased thinking a well known fantasy property would warrant enough quality control to cancel out being a licensed GBA game. Most notably it caused some poor GameFAQs writer to crash out.
